'Mommy! Shall we play hide and seek?'
She cupped my cheek before picking me up. 'At the park?' She asked. I nodded. She kissed my cheek before placing me back on the ground. 'Alright, let's get ready,' she said. I ran upstairs and grabbed my teddybear before running downstairs again. 'Mirage, what did I tell you about running down the stairs?' She asked before lifting my chin. 'I am sorry, mommy.' She kissed the top of my helm before taking me outside. She tightly held my servo as we reached the road. 'You remember what I thought you before crossing the street?' She asked. 'Yes, looking left and right twice before crossing,' I stated proudly. She nodded. I looked left and right twice before crossing with my mother.
At the park, she let go of my servo. 'Shall I count?' She asked. 'Yes! Yes! But this is the Ollie Ollie oxen free version!' I jumped up and down. 'Alright.' She turned around and started counting. I ran off and found a good spot to hide behind a bench. I laid down flat and watched my mother as she started to look around. I moved quietly over the ground without making any noises. I kept my optics on my mother.
I sneaked up behind her before running towards the checkpoint. 'Ollie Ollie oxen free!' I shouted. She turned around. She grabbed me and tickled me. 'You are so good at sneaking up on people,' she purred. I laughed and nuzzled in her neck. 'You would be a good spy.' I raised an optic ridge. 'But I don't want to be a spy... I want to be like Jazz,' I stated. 'Working for SpecOps? My brave little boy,' she whispered and nuzzled her nose with mine. She placed me back on the ground. 'Go hide again! I bet I will win this time,' she said. I giggled and ran off to hide again.
I was pretty tired when we went home. She picked up and carried me the last part. 'I love you, mommy.' She kissed my cheekplate. 'I love you too my little Mirage,' she purred and opened the door. She gave me a warm bath before placing me on the couch so I could watch some TV with a cookie.
That night, the weather was really bad. I hid under my quilt, shivering in fear and held onto my teddybear tightly. Tears ran down my face. I slid out of bed and sprinted over to my parents. I crawled in bed and hid under the blanket. 'Mirage, hey...' mommy remove the quilt from my face. 'I am scared.' She pulled me closer. 'It's only thunder, nothing to be afraid of,' she said. I flinched at loud noise outside. 'No one will hurt my little boy,' she whispered and cupped my cheekplate. 'I will always be there for you.' A weak smile formed on my lip plating. 'Do you promise?' I asked. She nodded and kissed my helm. 'Always.' I closer my optics and fell asleep. The next morning, I woke up from my mother.
'Mirage, sweetie.' She rubbed my arm. I perked my helm up. 'You need to wake up,' she said. I jawed as she picked me up and held me on her hip. I leaned against her and shut my optics for a moment. 'My little sleepy boy,' she purred. She walked downstairs and placed me in the chair. I tiredly rubbed my optics. 'Good morning, Mirage.' Dad kissed my helm. 'Where are you going?'
'Work,' he replied. I watched him say goodbye to mommy. 'See you tonight, Mirage. He a good boy for your mother,' he said. 'Always,' I chirped. Mommy placed a plate in front of me and gave me warm Energon. 'You need to hurry up,' she said. 'I don't want to go to school,' I said. 'It'll be okay,' she said. I shook my helmet. 'No...' she rubbed my helmet. 'I will talk to Windblade, alright?' She asked. 'That won't change anything,' I said. 'Trust me.'
I slowly started eating. When I finished, we headed off to school. She held my servo while entering the building. I clutching onto her servo. She walked into the class room and pulled me on her lap. As long as my mommy is here, I am save. I relaxed a little. If she stays, this won't be too bad. During the break, we had to play outside again. 'Mirage?' I looked up. 'Why don't you go play outside?' Mommy asked. I shook my head and looked back at my work. 'You have been doing this for several hours, take a break,' mommy said. 'I can't take a break, mommy,' I stated. 'Why not, honey?' she asked. 'Because this actually matters. This is important the reason I am here. With playing, I won't become like Jazz. I want to be just as smart as he is,' I stated. She smiled. 'Playing is fun and you are only a sparkling,' she reminded me before placing me on the ground. I sighed, 'they don't want to play with me anyway,' I said, trying to reach for the book.
'Try it, ask them,' she said. I sighed, 'fine... whatever,' I scowled and angrily walked off. Outside, I stopped and watched the other kids play hide and seek. I love playing hide and seek. 'You want to join?' Coil mocked. I didn't reply. Not really but mommy said I had to try. 'Fine, just one round, 'he said before turning around. They didn't really appreciate my way of thinking and acting. I am really good at hide and seek. Coil glared at me as I found him. He smashed me against the fence again. 'You are a cheating, glitch,' he snapped. 'That's a bad word,' I said. 'Does it look like I care? We don't want to play with cheaters,' he snapped. 'I didn't cheat... I just used my own methods,' I said. He pushed me on the floor.
'We don't want to play with you anymore,' he snapped. I sighed while Coil marched over to the others of my group. 'No one wants to play with me anyway,' I mumbled and pulled my knees higher to my chassis. 'Mirage.' Mommy crouched down. 'Come here, honey.' She was about to pick me up. 'No, leave me alone,' I snapped and got up, walking off. I grabbed my teddy bear from my subspace and hugged it.
'Mirage, sweetie.'
I looked at my mommy. 'Don't be sad,' she whispered. I snorted. 'Now you have seen it yourself, mommie. They don't wanna play with me anymore,' I muttered. 'Because you're really good and they're jealous.' I glanced at her. 'Why would people be jealous on me?' I asked. 'Because like I said, you're really good and they aren't,' she said. I rolled my optics. She grabbed my cheek plate and turned my helm towards her. 'I love you Mirage.' I nuzzled my nose with hers. 'I love you too, mommy.'
