How could one night last for so long? It felt as if endless eternities had passed you by, as you rode Fox placidly behind Arthur and Artemis - their shadowy figures leading the way through vast landscapes under the moon and darkened forest canopies.

Your hands were frozen as they clutched your worn leather reins, your exhausted body and bleary eyes greatly relieved when you set sights on the small town of Strawberry in the very early hours.

Tethering up Fox and Artemis, yourself and Arthur headed inside the all too familiar hotel, gifted a room  key compliantly by the clerk behind the desk who looked about as shattered as you both felt.

There was just an inkling of the new day on the horizon, in the form of a warm pink swipe at the pocket of the landscape as you both entered your room - ironically, the same one you'd stayed in last time.

"Get y' head down for a coupla' hours, darlin'." Arthur said quietly, as you made no arguments and flopped down dramatically onto the bed, kicking off your boots quickly and with the eagerness of someone desperate for a nap.

You'd not even changed from your clothes as you lay on top of the sheets, eyes closed - but a little smile on your face.

"Whatchu' grinnin' for?" Arthur's voice asked with a hint of amusement, and it made you giggle some more. The both of you were either that delirious from tiredness, or there was some gentle unspoken elation at the escape from your situation.

You sighed softly, opening your eyes as you looked at him - catching the cowboy in the act of removing his boots too to join you on the large bed.

"Just thinking about the last time we were here." You smiled, "how nervous I was when I got in this room."

"Well y' didn't leave nervous, that's for sure." Arthur teased you, laughing to himself in a dirty manner as you smacked his arm playfully.

"I left a lucky girl." You said to him, internally silently pleased when the outlaw reclined on his back beside you - and you could turn to squash in at his side, your arm draped over his chest as he instinctively slipped his arm over your hip.

"I was the lucky one here, let's not mistake that fact." Arthur corrected, pressing a kiss to the top of your head. "Ain't never woulda' thought someone as amazin' as you would like twice at some dumb old fool like me."

You rolled your eyes, slapping his chest lightly in reprimanding.

"If I wasn't so tired I'd show you why I love you so much." You laughed sleepily, feeling the rumble of his chuckles beneath your fingers.

"N' that's why your in the state that y' in." He remarked smartly, a small pause following as you two drank in the peace and quiet of the room.

"How have y' been feelin' since?" He asked you, that worrisome intonation lurking beneath a facade of total composure. "I was worried 'bout y, seeing y' in pain like that."
