The ride up to Strawberry was a long one, the air seemed even thinner and dewy up towards the mountains as yourself and Sadie made your way through the sleepy waterside town and up towards your former home.

Seeing the cabin once more, the place you had resided in all your life, a feeling of deep pain consumed your chest. The place looked very much abandoned, and even more cold and unwelcoming than it did before your father's tyrannical reign fell from it.

"Everything okay?" Sadie asked, as you both tethered the horses the outer fence surrounding the property. She had clearly seen the look of a lost child on your expression.

Turning to face your associate, you nodded quickly and pulled yourself together - grabbing your donated gun and heading up the miry path towards the cabin.

The first thing you noted were the chicken and duck pens - the poor things inside were pecking at scraps and you rushed over to quickly unsecure the latches so the animals could run free. You'd rather them have freedom in the wild then starve to death in these tiny enclosures.

"Sorry, I couldn't bear to think they were gonna die like that, in cages." You excused yourself to Sadie, who smiled softly as she ascended the porch.

"What y' sorry for? Havin' a heart?" She jested, letting you know you were perfectly fine.

Luckily, you always had a spare house key in your saddle bag, so entering the property was not an issue. The door creaked open as it always had done, but this time with an air of creepiness and unsettling about it. The air inside the cabin, if possible, felt colder than outside - there was a brisk draft that blew into your faces as you both stepped inside with caution.

Nothing could quite come out of your mouth in terms of words, as you walked about the cold and lifeless place you had to call home all these years. You looked at the stacks of plates in the sink and wondered what your father would say if he saw his house in such a state.

"What were ya lookin' for again?" Sadie asked, and pulled you out of your string of thoughts.

"Oh! Just some old valuables." You exclaimed, "I won't be long." It was probably good to get in and out of the house as fast as possible - in case somewhere were to come along.

You immediately headed to your father's bedroom, a place merely explored as you only ever made the bed beforehand and if he caught you in there otherwise - you got hit.

It felt more criminal than usual, ransacking through his things in the nightstands, and with the two bedside units covered; you moved over to the big freestanding wardrobe.
