"Pumpkin. C'mon, wake up." As I slept through my seventh alarm, my grandma spoke, startling me awake.

I looked at the time and seeing it was 6:30 A.M., which meant I needed to be at school in exactly one hour.

After what felt like hours of staying in my bed and staring at nothing at all, I got up to shower and start my hygiene routine.

"Girl, you better put some pep in that step, so you don't get any more tardies." From the foot of the steps, my grandma yelled out.

"Okay, Grandma! I'm almost finishedd!" I lied, while just now beginning to put on my outfit for the school day.

I put on an all-white jacket with matching sweatpants, yellow crocs, and a yellow crossbody bag to keep it comfortable. My hair was already done into a braided ponytail, so I just removed my bonnet and tied a white scrunchie around it.

I was completely finished with everything at 7:15 A.M., which gave me a short enough time to make it to school.

"Grandma, I'm finna leave. I love you." I shouted, when I started approaching the front door.

"I love you too. Have a wonderful day, my grand baby."

"I swear on everything— I'm so close to dropping out." Destiny sighed as she reached the top the stairwell.

"It's only two months left, susta. Y'all, we gone make it." I gave her some words of encouragement.

"I know that's rightt! Looks like have a sub for Mr.Barker class." Nova squinted her eyes down the hall, getting hype when she saw a lady instead of her normal male teacher.

"I'm so happy, cus' he literally calls my grandma for no entire reason at all... Like, boy, I'm damn near grown. What are you calling this lady for?" I smacked my lips.

Someone bumped into me so damn hard, when we were walking towards our classroom—causing me to drop my phone and everything else I had in my hand.

"So you can't see...?" I held my phone, before asking the boy, who seemed to intentionally seemed to bump into me.

"I seen where I was headed. Watch where the fuck you headed next time." He walked past her & there were no furthermore words.

"Bitch, no! The fuck! You was in that phone not paying attention. Therefore, youuu need to watch the fuck out." Destiny raised her voice and came at my side.

"Nova, dem' yo friends annit?" The boy asked, pointing his finger in between us.

how the fuck everybody seem to know Nova friendly ass..?

"Yeah, but, what difference is that making here?"

"ONE MINUTE STUDENTS! GET TO CLASS ON TIME, OR YOU WILL RECEIVE ISS!" A person on the intercom announced then repeated them self.

"Control these bitches, then, cuhs." He stated before he walked off; also bumping into me again.

"Bitches?" With furrowed eyebrows on my face, I turned to face him with surprise, but he was already walking away with his back to me.
