"Momma, you sure you supposed to be up like this?" She wasn't meant to be walking, so I started to worry.

"Yes, I'm okay, daughter. All I'm doing is going to the restroom." She coughed & tried reassuring me during her stroll down the hallway.

Since the procedure was only a few days prior, I knew for a fact the doctors had told my mom not to be up & moving— so I made sure to stay close behind her the entire time.

To make sure nothing unexpected went on, I sat with her the whole time we were in the bathroom. She rested on the toilet seat, and I sat on the bathtub right across from her.

"Momma, you sure you okay? I'm not gone lie, I'm scared." I muttered, my voice trembling.

"I'm amazing. Why are you scared, baby?" She frowned as she asked.

"I just want you better.... They always got you in the hospital now."

"Don't be scared; they're just trying to help me heal. I'll guarantee you that they'll have me back better in no time, my baby." I wasn't even aware I was crying until she wiped my face. "You're going to make me cry.... Stop crying, daughter."

"Sorry, ion wanna make you cry, Momma.... I just don't wanna lose you." I admitted truthfully. "We get scared sometimes because me & my daddy love you so much."

"I love you and daddy so much more, & I'll be here for a long time." My momma stated eagerly. "Wanna know why? Because, I'm gonna get so much better."

"I want you to keep that in mind." She kissed my nose after speaking while holding both sides of my cheeks in her hands.

"Okay." I smiled with agreement.

"Go take the stuff out for ice cream, baby. Daddy finna be on his way soon; and we're going to make ice cream sundaes!" She kissed my face all over, tickling me as I giggled eagerly.

I was excitedly heading downstairs to the kitchen. I pulled the ice cream and toppings out the freezer & placed them on the counter so they would be ready when my folks came into the kitchen.

"Hmmm.... Should I get vanilla or strawberry ice cream?" I thought as I tapped my chin. "Vanilla or strawberry?"

"Why not both?" With a shrug, I placed them both on the counter.

A terrible crash sounded from upstairs, interrupting my thoughts.

My mom came to my mind instantly, and I hurried upstairs to find out how she happened to be doing.

"Mama!" I shouted & ran over to her, as she laid on the ground trembling.

"Mama, pleasee— Oh my!" I screamed, genuinely in disbelief. "Bro, what is happeninggg?"

Taking her phone off the countertop & dialing 9-1-1 was the only thing I knew to do because I didn't know what else to possibly do.
