"You ever find out what happened to yo car?" Nova questioned, as we approached the front of my auntie's house.

Because my car was still in the shop, Nova drove me to the lil get-together for my dad's death date.

I would've asked my grandma to bring me when she came, but she be leaving too early for everything she go to— I hate being at the events mad early.

"The mechanic at the shop said sum bout my brakes, so they did sum with the alignment, but he said it should be good now." I responded to her question. "You know ion know nothing about cars, so I probably said something wrong."

"Girl, me either. That's why I asked you." Nova laughed.

"Welp, that makes the both us."

"Were they able to fix the damages?" Nova asked.

"Yeah. My uncle and Seven paid for most of it for me, since they ain't want me paying for everything."

"Ouu, that's good. I'm already knowing they probably made y'all pay an arm and a leg."

"Girl, you ain't never lied." I widened my eyes remembering the bill. "Lemme go in here and see what they talking bout though." I opened the passenger door and began gathering my things up.

"You want me to come back and pick you up when it's over?"

"Yes, please." I nodded my head.

"Okay, just call me before it end, so I can come pick you up."

"Okay, I love you. Stay safe out here." I smiled and shut the door.

Nova rolled the window down and gave me a side eye before she broke into a really big smile.

"Who gotchu talkin' like that?" We both started giggling together, when she asked. "Lemme find outtt."

"Talking like whattt?" I moved into the window with a smile.

"Stay safe out here. Me and everybody else know, lil Brook, do not be talking like thattt."

"Big Brook." I spoke in a matter-a-factly tone, correcting her.

"Lemme find out Sev got, BIG Brook, turning into a Lil Sev." She spoke with an emphasis.

"Yeahh, byeee!" I dragged, while busting out laughing.

I grabbed my things, moving away from the door, and made my way towards the porch.

I heard a loud speaker playing Tupac Keep Ya Head Up, and saw that everyone in the backyard dancing, so I just made my way back there instead.

"Hey, Brook. Long time no see." As soon as I stepped into the backyard, my auntie said.

wonder why y'all don't see me.. fake ass hoe's.

"Hi." I replied, keeping it short and simple.

"How you been?" She asked.
