The group soon arrived at the Longwythe Rest Area. Ignis parks the car in front of the motel. "Well, I'd say that's enough for today. Might be wise to leave the driving to me until we've found our bearings out here."
The five exit the vehicle and search for the proprietor of the motel to give him the package in the trunk. Luckily, he was easy to find. They spoke to him and handed over the package.
After he walked away, Makina spotted a dog approaching them. She recognized the canine from anywhere. She smiled as he trotted over. "Looks like we have a visitor."
"Hmm?" Noctis hummed in curiosity at hearing her. He turned to see the gray-furred dog as it sat in front of him. "Umbra." He kneels beside Umbra and scratches the dog's head.
"Bringin' us stuff, atta boy!" Prompto cooed.
"That dog can really track a scent," Gladiolus said.
Ignis didn't pass up the opportunity to make a clever pun. "Certainly "nose" how to find us."
Makina groaned. "You and your puns..."
"Just a sec." Noctis flipped through a notebook that had come in a bag Umbra was carrying. He reminisced in a memory from the past before reading a message left by Lunafreya.
It's come time for me to leave Tenebrae
Noctis thought about what to say. He wanted to write a lot and ask many questions, but he didn't want to bombard her with a lengthy response. Instead, he kept it short.
Just left the Crown City
Just as he was about to close the notebook, he saw another message. This one, however, was addressed to Makina. He stood up and handed the notebook to her. "Luna left you a message."
"She did?" The snowy-haired girl took the notebook. She found the message Lunafreya had written for her.
All will be made right, my dear Makina
The princess was puzzled by the message. What was Lunafreya referring to? She decided to trust the meaning behind the cryptic message and wrote a brief response.
Please be safe during your travels
Makina squatted down in front of Umbra. She put the notebook back in the bag the canine was carrying around his neck. Once it was securely in place, she trailed her fingers across the dog's head. She scratched behind his ear with a smile. "You take care of yourself too, Umbra." She stood up and watched the dog walk away.
Prompto glanced between the two royals. "I know. You guys're not gonna tell me."
