Makina watched the boys fumble around the room. With crossed arms, she leaned against one of the stacks of stones. She felt like they were missing something and was wondering what it could be. Pushing her back off the stones, she analyzed the platform she currently stood on. She admired the design before squatting down to get a closer look. There was a strange switch she spotted in the middle of the platform. It was so small and easy to miss.

Curious, she activated the Ionus Sphere and set it to the fifth configuration. One of the twin daggers manifested in her hand. She nudged the sharp, thin blade into the small crevice and was able to flip the switch. She immediately shot to her feet when the platform began sinking into the floor. "Guys!" she shouted.

The boys rushed over just as the platform ceased moving. They peered down at her in bewilderment.

"What did you do?" Noctis asked.

"I only flipped a switch." She looked down at where it was hidden and squatted again to activate it a second time. Instead of going down, it started to recede into the wall. The boys quickly jumped down before it vanished to join her. As they landed, a small horde of ereshkigals appeared from the darkness.

The five companions disposed of the daemons in a timely fashion. With the way clear, they realized they were trapped in the pit. Makina, however, found another switch. She flipped it and the wall moved, allowing them to delve deeper.

They repeated the same process over and over again. Flip a switch, fight some daemons, and move on to wherever the path led them.

Eventually, the platform they were riding down began receding into the wall.

"This doesn't bode well," Ignis spoke up.

Gladiolus was hesitant to jump down into the hallway below and tried to remain on the platform as long as possible. "So, the floor is sliding out that way."

"Which means..." Makina began.

"We're going down," Noctis finished.

Prompto saw the drop they wouldn't be able to avoid. "We're going down?!" He shouted in fright, afraid of what waited for them below.

"Goin' down!" Gladiolus hollered as they were forced off the platform.

The blonde screamed as they fell down to the hallway below. He stopped yelling after he regained his footing and pressed his back against the wall as he shakily tried to calm himself. He panted, placing a hand over his heart. He looked around in the darkness with his flashlight. He saw nothing, but that didn't eradicate his fear.

Makina was cautious as she approached him. She carefully touched his shoulder. "If you wanna leave, I can take you back to the campsite. There's no shame in bowing out."

He shook his head with a shaky exhale. "I-I'm good, I'm good..."

"Sounds like you're trying to convince yourself more than anyone else."
