Prompto swallowed nervously at the sight of the midgardsormr that obscured their path to greyshire glacial grotto. "Th-That is one big snake..."

"And quite poisonous," Makina added.

"You aren't making this any better," he shrieked.

"Sorry," she giggled.

"That thing is clearly in the way and there's no way we can handle it," Noctis said.

"Perhaps we should find another path to the waterfall," Ignis suggested.

"No need." The princess stepped forward as her lilac eyes began to glow and her pupils turned into slits. Without even needing to wave a hand, she froze time. She turned to the boys. "We better hurry. I can't keep time frozen forever."

"Nicely done, cupcake," Gladiolus complimented.

As they walked by the frozen midgardsormr, Prompto stared at it in awe. "Aw, man. This is so cool! Talk about a freeze frame!" He went to take a picture of the immense snake, but Gladiolus grabbed the back of his collar and dragged him away.

As time resumed, the Shieldshears prowling the area by the stream spotted the group. The large crustaceans were easily dealt with.

Prompto stared at the flowing water. "The legend says to look behind the waterfall."

"What does the waterfall say?" Ignis asked.

"I think it says, "Come in"."

As the five began to trek up a side path along the cliffside, the sound of a high-pitched voice caught their attention. "Princess Makina!"

Noctis heard the shrill voice and looked around. "The hell was that?"

The snowy-haired girl searched for the source of the voice. "Whatever it is, it knows who I am..." Her eyes scanned their surroundings before the voice spoke again.

"Down here!"

She looked down and blinked in surprise at the sight. It was a small bipedal creature with a fox tail and ears that stood only a few inches tall. It wore a blue and black hakama that complemented its white fur and blue markings. Squatting down, she poked its beady nose. "Well, well. Never did I expect to see a kitsune. I thought your kind was wiped out with the rest of Iona."

The kitsune swatted at the princess' hand. "I was lucky enough to be blown through a rift! I've been stuck on this damned planet for far too long!"

"Feisty little thing, ain't it?" Gladiolus commented.

"Yeah, well, Iona is gone. Eos is the only planet that remains within this dimension. There are other worlds, but they can be quite dangerous for a little guy like you," she remarked, poking his chest and causing him to stagger.

"Hey!" It wailed. "Stop poking me, dammit!"

"Sooo, what exactly is this thing?" Prompto asked.

"A kitsune—a demon that was native to Iona. They're known for their trickery, but they are practically harmless," she answered. "What're you doing?"
