The only one who wasn't shocked was Noctis. He remembered what Makina had told him yesterday. "What does a god want with us?"
"I am only here to send you a warning." Valtreus pushed himself off the railing. He folded his sunglasses and hooked them onto his vest. "One of which I hope you will heed closely."
Even though he was a god of another world and shared the same blood as Makina, Noctis didn't trust him. "Oh, yeah? And what's that?"
"Noct," Ignis hissed in warning. He didn't want the prince to agitate the draconic god.
Valtreus stepped toward the raven-haired boy in a threatening manner. "The heiress of my blood is someone I cherish deeply. As she is the last remaining descendant of my bloodline, it would be terrible if her light would be snuffed out before her appointed time. If such a thing were to happen, this world will be of no concern to me any longer. It would be easy to siphon the life from this world and create a new Iona, wiping out the evil that forced my hand along the way."
Gladiolus glowered at the god. "You'd wipe out an entire planet just to rebuild your own?"
"Of course I would." Valtreus glanced toward the fort. "This plague of a world is what caused Iona to be infected. Eradicating the source of such darkness would be quite beneficial and the best starting point for a newborn Iona. With the remnants of Eos, the new Iona shall be given pure life and no longer be threatened by a plague of darkness."
"You'd be killing millions of innocents," Ignis snarled.
"The price of millions of lives does not compare to the lives lost if two worlds are destroyed by this plague," the god calmly replied. "If Iona is reborn, life will flourish and continue. Of course, I do not plan to kill all of those who call this world home." The man came to a halt directly in front of the prince. "But all of this can be avoided only if my queen is protected from this darkness. If she is killed before her time, know that this world will crumble by my hands and you shall never ascend as the True King. Not even the Six could stop me or my disciples."
"You bastard..." Noctis growled.
"However, none of this should concern you as I am certain you will not allow harm to befall Her Majesty. Protect her as I could not my own people. Ensure she is safe and this plague of darkness shall never come to consume this world or shall it be smitten by my hands alone. Ascend as the True King with her by your side." Valtreus tightened his tie and turned away from the prince. "That is all I desire, Your Majesty. Although I am greedy, I do believe in the right thing to do even if it means a sacrifice must be made."
"You seriously think Makina would be happy if you did that?"
"As I said, such a plan will only transpire if her light is extinguished. Her happiness will no longer be my concern if she is dead." Valtreus took his sunglasses and slid them back onto his face. "Believe it or not, I have faith my plan will never see the light of day. I have faith in you, just as does Makina. Don't disappoint me, Your Majesty."
