Eventually, the path came to an end and the group was forced to leave the Regalia behind. They climb out of the car and proceed down a more narrow path on foot. Noctis, as per usual, was in the lead. "So we keep going this way."
"Then we'll find out what the empire's up to," Gladiolus added.
"Any ideas as to why they would be here?" Makina asked the boys. "Because I don't have a single one."
"Nope. I'm drawing a blank too," Prompto responded.
"Whatever it is, it can't be good," the prince said. "Never is when these guys are involved."
Following the path, they pressed forward to see where it would lead them. Amid their trek, Makina heard Ignis mumble behind her. "These ruins..."
She stopped and turned to him with a quizzical look. "What about them?"
"Perhaps my hypothesis is incorrect, but this structure resembles that of the royal tomb in greyshire."
"Guess that means there's only one way to find out if your train of thought is on the right track, Iggy."
"Indeed."
The advisor and princess caught up to the others just as they carefully approached the end of the path. At the very end was a cliff with a magnificent view of the meteor. Upon the cliff lied a royal sarcophagus. "As I suspected," Ignis spoke loud enough for only Makina to hear.
Prompto eyed the stone sarcophagus with intrigue. "Is that what I think it is?"
"Didn't expect to find a royal tomb here."
Gladiolus looked over at Noctis. "Would be a shame not to grab that power, eh, Highness?"
"Let's grab it and go," he replied.
As Noctis approached the resting place of his deceased ancestor to claim the royal arm, Makina heard a strange noise. She looked around in search of what caused the noise. "Did anyone else hear that?"
"Hear what?" Prompto asked, having been the closest to her.
"Sounded almost like a growl."
The blonde looked around. "I don't see anything."
The princess' eyes scanned their surroundings but couldn't find anything that could've been the source of the noise. Deciding the search was pointless, she focused her gaze on Noctis. She watched as he claimed another royal arm for his arsenal. Before she could make a teasing remark, the ground begins to shake violently.
Ignis and Prompto lost their balance and fell. Noctis, Gladiolus, and Makina were unsteady on their feet but remained upright.
Prompto braced himself against the ground. "Here we go again."
"This one's huge!" Gladiolus shouted over the rumbling.
Ignis saw cracks forming along the ground underneath Noctis, Makina, and Gladiolus. "Get away! Quickly!"
