Makina trailed her hand across the cave wall as they traveled down the narrow tunnel. She was happy she wasn't claustrophobic or she would've been forced to wait outside. She felt the condensation along the rocks and lowered her hand, wiping the water on the side of her damp clothes. She grimaced when her hand only became wetter. "What I wouldn't do for some dry clothes..."

"Join the club," Gladiolus retorted. "I could use a change of dry clothes right about now."

She glanced over at the half-dressed shield. "You spend most of your time half-naked. I wouldn't be surprised if you caught a cold after being out in the rain all day."

"A little rain isn't gonna make me sick. Don't worry, cupcake."

"A little rain my ass..." She muttered, following behind Noctis as they made their way down the tunnel.

Prompto, who nearly tripped when he started walking backward down the tunnel, said, "We're drifting into the deep end."

"I can't quite make out how deep it runs," Ignis spoke up.

Gladiolus walked behind the group. "Only one way to find out, right?"

"Maybe we'll venture into the underworld," Makina teased.

Prompto knew she was teasing, but he couldn't help but wonder. "It can't go that deep...could it?"

"Doubtful."

The blonde laughed nervously and turned to focus on where he was walking. He wandered a little ahead of the group and delved deeper into the tunnel but was startled when a colony of bats emerged from the darkness. "Whoa!" He squatted to avoid the flying mammals. He sighed in relief once they were all gone. "That was close."

"At least they weren't daemons," Makina said. "Back on Iona, one of the daemons that used to inhabit caves were called nobusuma. They'd attack and drain the blood of their prey after killing it. They also tended to colonize like normal bats. There were also larger bat-like daemons called camazotzs."

Prompto clamped his hands over his ears. "Please stop! You're going to give me nightmares."

"Just a little fun fact about my homeworld."

"That wasn't fun!"

"Maybe not for you, but you'd be surprised at how many Lucian scholars loved to learn about the daemons that inhabited Iona. I do find it fascinating how the daemons that inhabited Iona are vastly different than Eos."

"What's the scariest one from your homeworld?" Gladiolus asked out of curiosity.

"Probably nuckelavees. Those things are uglier and scarier than manananggals. Luckily, they hunt alone."

"You ever come across one?"

"Only once," she answered.

Prompto tensed and shrunk away in fear. "R-Really?"
