On the way back to the chocobo outpost, the boys realized Makina was unable to keep up with their usual pace. Prompto was the closest to her and went to check on her. When he did, he gasped. "H-Hey, your nose is bleeding!"

His shriek caused Noctis, Gladiolus, and Ignis to turn around. They saw the droplet of blood and grew more concerned.

Makina lifted her hand. She wiped the droplet of blood off her face before it reached her lips. "Cor did warn me the sphere would take a toll on my body until I learned how to control it."

Noctis wouldn't stand idly by any longer. He walked up to her, turned his back to her, and kneeled. "Hop on."

She was too exhausted and didn't have a plausible reason to argue. Silently, she climbed into his back and hooked her arms around his neck. She tightened her arms when he stood up, but she made sure she didn't choke him. As he took a few steps forward, she rested her chin on his shoulder. "Thank you, Noct."

"Don't mention it." Noctis gripped her thighs tightly to prevent her from falling. While walking up the narrow path back to the outpost, he suddenly felt her slump against his back. He stopped mid-stride, concerned that she passed out. However, he was relieved when he realized she fell asleep. "That was quick."

"Probably for the best," Gladiolus said.

When they arrived back at Wiz's, Ignis stopped Noctis. "We will speak with Wiz and procure the caravan. It would be an ideal place for Makina to rest."

"Got it." Noctis walked over to the caravan with Prompto by his side. The blonde opened the door for the prince and slumbering princess. He entered the caravan and headed to the four bunk beds located in the back room. With Prompto's help, he carefully transferred Makina from his back to one of the beds. They both made her as comfortable as possible with the blankets and pillows they found.

Prompto took a step back to get a better look at the sleeping princess. Worry was evident in his eyes. "She's gonna be okay, right?"

"I'm pretty sure she'll be fine after she gets some sleep," Noctis responded. He sat down on the floor with his back leaning against the bedframe. "I...think I'm gonna stay here a while."

The marksman picked up on the prince's concern and nodded. "'Kay. I'll be chillin' with chocobos if you need me." With that, he left.

Noctis sighed in relief. He was glad Prompto picked up on the subtle hint. Leaning his head back, he rested it against the side of the mattress. He remained seated on the floor as he found himself drifting off.

He didn't get to sleep long before being disturbed by Gladiolus. The brute had entered the caravan and smacked him on the shoulder, stirring him from his slumber. He was now moodier than ever since his nap was interrupted. "The hell do you want...?" There was no malice in his tone, just exhaustion and annoyance.
