Noctis had heard everything from the ear piece. He heard Vylen's words and the cries of Makina while she struggled against him. He wasn't sure who this man was, but he somehow knew him and her. He had desperately wanted to rush off to save her, but the imperial onslaught prevented him from going anywhere. He warped to and fro to knock back enemies and pin them to the ground before cutting them down. He would constantly shout the princess' name in the hope she was okay. He was only growing more concerned by the minute.
Feeling himself struggling and seeing his friends were injured, Noctis couldn't handle it any longer. He was prepared to retreat due to the overwhelming number of imperial forces, but the thought left his mind when a strange power coursed through his veins. He heard a voice in his head and he called upon who spoke to him.
The sky above darkened. From the ether came Ramuh, the God of Storm. His ethereal appearance floated in the sky above.
Noctis gaped in awe at the sight of the astral that heeded his call. He soon found himself in the clutches of the Stormsender as he smote the imperials below with a powerful lightning strike. The god's power was just enough to wipe out the remaining enemies within Aracheole Stronghold. With his duty done, Ramuh released Noctis. In the blink of an eye, he was gone. The only thing that remained was the fizzle of lightning.
Once all was calm and no enemies were in sight, the boys were relieved and used curatives to heal their wounds. In the deafening silence of the base, Noctis tried to contact the princess. "Makina? Hey!"
Silence.
He turned to Ignis in hopes he had heard from the girl. "Ignis, any word from Makina?"
The advisor shook his head with a grim look. "I'm afraid not."
Prompto fiddled with his fingers, concern written all over his face. "Is she okay?"
"We can look for the princess after we check on the car," Gladiolus said.
Noctis gritted his teeth and clenched his fists tightly. He may have taken the shield's words at a level of meaning that was too deep. "She's more important than some damn car."
"Not what I meant," he replied with a hint of annoyance. "We need to check on the car to make sure it's working properly. If it's not, there's no way we can safely escape if the princess is injured. You can't tear open reality like she can. We'll need a working ride if she needs some serious help."
Prompto gasped at a second possibility. "Wh-What if the empire captured her?"
"Then we get her back and make the bastards that took her pay," Noctis replied.
"Regardless of either possibility, we will be in need of the car," Ignis stated.
Noctis abhorred that the tactician was right. He reluctantly followed the others to the Regalia as the sun started to rise. They hadn't realized how long they'd been in the base until now.
