Nova's POV:

My hands were shaking from how nervous I was. I know I've already met Frankie (thankfully he forgot about the whole 'joining the mafia' fiasco), but that was before me and Xavier were actually together. And for his mom, I haven't even seen her once.

"You're gonna be fine mama," assures Xavier, taking my hand. "You only really need to meet my mom then that's it."

Xavier then puts his keys into the door, and opens it. The inside of the house was gorgeous, with warm colours and delicate gold details in the chandelier and baseboards.

He leads me to the living room, and that's when I see a petite Spanish lady with gorgeous long brown hair folding a beige blanket.

"Mom, Nova's here," says Xavier with happiness in his voice.

She turns around and her cautious brown eyes look over to me.

"Hi Nova. It's great to finally meet you," she says, walking toward us.

I don't know why, but I felt too scared to respond back to her. Her gaze was hard, and she didn't seem genuine when saying she was excited to meet me.

"Don't be shy Nova," says Xavier, nudging my arm with his.

"Oh my bad," I chuckle softly. "It's nice to meet you too," I say, smiling at her.

"Xavier, why don't you look for your father. I want to get acquainted with Nova first," she says, her hardened eyes never leaving mine.

"Okay," smiles Xavier, giving me a soft kiss on my lips before walking out of sight.

As soon as Xavier leaves her stare hardens even more.

"So you're the one who made my baby question his ability to love," she says, glaring at me harshly.

I swallow harshly, my hands shaking with fear. How did she know that? Well I guess Xavier could have told her, but I don't think he would have given my name. I still felt like shit for saying that to Xavier because if anything he loves the most out of the two of us.

"Yes."

"Good to know," she says.

"But you should also know that I took back what I said. It was probably one of the dumbest things I've ever said even though I thought it was the most logical thing to say at the time. Xavier is capable of love. Definitely more capable than me," I assure.

"Did he forgive you?"

"Yes."

She then softens her glare before turning around, and walking the way Xavier went.

"Dinner," she calls out for me to follow.

Just great! Xavier's mom hates me.

Fair enough though, because I was a bitch for saying that to Xavier.

I then follow her to the dinning room where I see Xavier arguing with his dad. It looked like things could get physical because Xavier's fist were tightening by the second.

"Enough you too," declares Luisa.

"We'll talk about this later," grumbles Frankie before turning to walk away.

"Demetri, at the table," says Luisa.

"Love?" He says sadly, his eyes widening. Seemingly hurt by the name she used to call him.
