Xavier's POV:

It's been 2 weeks since I've seen Maya, and I wanted to surprise her. I've been taking care of all the kids, and they have been getting healthier. Slowly, but surely.

Orion is loving his new room with Jack, since I've now moved them to my Mansion. Ayla, and Santiago are looking over them right now, and I can't help but smile when thinking about how happy they all look now.

I unlock the door, and head inside. I had on the bracelet Maya had made me when we met for the second time. It was colourful, showcasing blues, pinks, purples, and yellows.

As soon as the door opens, I see Maya perk her head up from the kitchen set she was playing at.

"Xavy!" She shouts, running to me as fast as her little legs could carry her. "I've missed you."

"I've missed you too," I say, kissing the top of her head. "Where's mama?"

"In her room sleeping," she says.

Then all of a sudden Maya looks up at me with the largest puppy dog eyes I've ever seen.

"Xavy, why do you never have time for me anymore?" she asks.

"I'm sorry Mija. I've been looking after Orion, and all the other kids."

"You're always with Orion," she states, looking at her small feet. "It's like you forgot about me."

"Mija I could never forget about you. Come on Maya, you're my best friend."

"But I don't want to be your friend," she cries. "I want to be your daughter. I want you to be my papa."

"Oh Mija," I say, picking her up gently, and holding her in my arms.

"It's not fair that Orion can call you dad when he's only known you a little bit. It's not fair," she whines.

"Maya I understand how you're feeling right now, but those kids need more help as of now. They need someone to look up to, and I want to be that person."

She looks at me with her sad eyes then begins to ball her eyes out.

"I know it's selfish, but I want you to stay at home please! I miss our morning breakfast," she cries.

My heart aches for her. She's just a small human who doesn't understand how severe these kids need my help. I let her cry for a few minutes more before calming her down by rubbing her back gently.

She seems to have calmed down, but when I try to place her back on the ground, she begins to cry again. She holds onto my neck tightly as I continue to try and place her on the ground.

"Don't! Please! Don't go!" She whines, her voice breaking.

"Please Mija let go of me," I say calmly.

"No," she wails. "No!"

"Maya it is not okay to act like this," I say more sternly, which just makes my heart break even more. "Please let go of me."

I finally am able to pry herself off me, and I try to place her on her feet but she just squirms her way out of my arm, and sits on the floor crying loudly.

"I hate you," she screams. "I hate you, I hate you, I hate you!"

"Maya," I say with a wavered tone.

Her tears bring me so much pain. I love this girl so much, and I know she's just angry right now but I couldn't help but feel hurt.

"Maya don't say that," I say.

"Shut up Xavier!" She cries, before running to her room, and slamming the door.
