Xavier's POV:

I hope Nova's alright. Seeing her with her tear stained face completely shattered my heart. I didn't want to leave her, trust me. I didn't want to leave behind my beautiful wife, but I knew she needed some space whether she knew it or not. I needed her to not be as dependent on me, so that she could function on her own when I'm not there.

"Xavier."

I hope she's having fun with Maya. That girl really misses her. Maya loves Nova so much that my heart can't handle the wholesomeness at times. She told me once how it is her life long mission to make Nova proud.

"Xavier!"

"What?"

"Do you know why Demetri called us here?" Asks Ayla. "Also where's Princess? Shouldn't she be with you?"

"She's with Maya at home. I wanted her to take some time to herself today," I say.

"Is she even in a state where she can be alone? Trauma doesn't go away overnight Xavier."

"I understand, but she's stronger than we think. I know she'll be fine by herself for a few hours. I wouldn't have left her if I didn't think so," I say, standing my ground with my choice.

She needs this independence.

"My Princess better be alright," grits Ayla. "Or I'll carve your tongue out."

I roll my eyes at her loaded threat. Although I'm gone, that doesn't mean she isn't protected. I have at least 12 designated guards watching over the house as we speak. They are trustworthy, and won't waver over any materialistic bribes since all they seek is further loyalty with me and my group.

As we continue to bicker I notice my mother and father near the hallway. They are whispering harshly to each other— scratch that—- my mother is shouting at my father while he tries to calm her down.

"We talked about this, Frankie. No more missions for him."

"I understand darling, but—"

"But no. I swear on my life Frankie I will never forgive you if you put him through this. He wants out, so let him out."

"He's the only one capable. Luisa listen to me, he has to—"

"No! How many times do I have to say this Demetri! No! He is my son, and he wants out! I don't give a fuck if he's the only one able to do it. He's not fucking doing it!" She shouts.

That was the first time I have ever heard my mother swear. She always told me that swearing was bad for the soul, but I never listened, because if I did then that would be telling myself I have no soul since I swear all the time.

"Luisa calm down," my father says. "I love you too much to have you this worked up. It's not good for the heart," he says reaching for her.

She steps back, shooting him a cold look.

"He's not doing it."

She then looks at me. Her eyes instantly softened.

"Hey baby, um, you are free to go back to Nova's. Sorry for bothering you," she smiles gently.

"Luisa—"

"Shut it," she glares.

"Mom, it's okay. Stop yelling at him," I say, seeing the hurt in his eyes from how cold her voice has turned toward him. "What do you even want me to do?"

My father would not put me in any unnecessary danger, so obviously he deems this mission as important and in need of urgent correction. I look to Ayla to see her shaking her head. As if she already knows what my fathers about to say.
