Chapter 16: Infiltration and Ambush

Marinette POV

I stood above the roof of a building with the wind brushing across my hair and scarf, staring at the warehouse, located in Lile. It was a good thing that Alya managed to track the signal on Cassie's phone before it cut off.  

"Are you sure this is the place, Mari?" Juleka asked, shivering from the cold.

"Only one way to find out." I said.

"Anyone going to point out that this could be a trap? Because surely I'm not the only one." Nino called out.

"We got this, Babe. Don't worry." Alya said, patting Nino's shoulder.

"Yeah. Sure." He replied.

"All we have to do is find Cassie, defeat Mr Butterfly and his akumas, get back the miracle box and we're done. It won't be easy but I'm sure we can pull this of." I said with a smile.

"I got a bad feeling about this." Zoe said, rubbing the bracers of her armoured jumpsuit.

"Stop worrying, Sis. We got this." Chloe said as she applied her make up, much to our annoyance.

"Let's go, guys." I said and made my way to the warehouse. My friends followed me. After, sneaking past the guards, we searched each and every room. 

"Nothing in here." Alya said in her ear piece.

"Same here." Nino replied.

"Ditto. It's nothing but dust in here." Chloe added, coughing from the dust.

"Yeah, I got nothing on my end." Juleka replied.

"Me too." Zoe said.

I searched through the rooms until I found a container.

"Guys, I just found a large container." I said.

"What's inside it?" Chloe asked.

I opened the container and gasped at what I saw. Inside the container was a large supply of brainwashing drugs in the form of perfumes, tablets, chocolates, etc. I used my yo-yo and switched it to camera mode to take a picture of the items and send them to the team.

"Holy shit." Chloe exclaimed.

"Wow. That's enough to supply a whole black market organisation." Zoe added.

"I think we just found out how Adrien was able to seduce Cassie. And possibly trick all the teachers in the school." Nino said.

"I better out this on the Ladyblog and expose Adrien for this. His sentence is going to be extended for this." Alya said.

"It's already bad enough he escaped from prison. Now's he producing brainwashing drugs to cover up his tracks." I said.

"It's a shame that you had to stand in my way." A voice said behind me. I spun around and dodged a blade aimed at my head. Adrien in his Mr Butterfly stood in front of me and smiled as he twirled his sword. I exchanged my yo-yo for my sword. We darted forward and exchanged sword strikes.

"I should've listened to Isaac the first time. I should've known that your backstory was a lie. As were my feelings for you." I growled as I parried his sword with mine and swiped my sword at him. Adrien side somersaulted over me and landed on the ground.

"But you didn't. Because you let your guard down, thinking you were safe with that boy who lives in a boathouse. I could've treated you better." Adrien said as he thrusted his sword at my stomach. I blocked it with sword and ducked as he swung his sheath over my head.

"By what!? Taking the high road and accepting Lila's false rumours. Like hell I will." I retorted and snapped a kick at his head. He dodged and jabbed the hilt of his sword into my stomach. I coughed and stumbled backwards.

Adrien summoned a wave of butterflies at me, blocking my vision. I tried to wave the butterflies away from me. As I recovered my vision, I saw a black claw aimed at my throat. I quickly blocked it with my sword, only for it to turn into dust in my hands. Adrien smirked and kicked me out off the room and over the railing. I fell flat onto my back and groaned as I climbed back onto my feet.

I heard a painful grunt and saw Nino, Alya and Chloe land on the ground. Above them, I saw my former friends laughing and jeering at us. Zoe and Juleka were held captive by King Monkey and Minotaurox. 

"How could you guys work for them? You were given the miraculous to help others, not harm them!" I called.

"What makes you think we'll help you after everything you've done, Maritrash!?" Kim shouted.

"You never forgave us for believing in Lila! Just like Ladybug!" Ivan added.

"Not to mention you convinced Hawkmoth to akumatize you for revenge!" Mylene called out.

"You even tried to kill Lila!" Sabrina included.

"I bet you brainwashed Luka, Chloe, Nino, Alya, Zoe, Juleka and your boy toy Isaac to help you!" Nathaniel said.

"We thought you were a forgiving person. We thought wrong. Lila forgave us for jeering at her when she was exposed. And we forgave her for lying to us. You didn't. You are a sorry excuse of a hero." Rose said.

Lila smirked at us, enjoying the drama.

"You don't deserve our forgiveness." Nino said, brandishing his rope spear.

"Nor a chance do rekindle our friendship." Alya added, pulling out her staff.

"You brought this on yourself." Chloe included, unravelling her spinning top.

"And now, you have to live with your choice." I said, twirling my yo-yo.

Adrien clapped and laughed at us.

"I was hoping you would say that. Go get them, my akumas. And take their miraculous. The one we got was a fake." He said, pointing at us.

The akumas and the sentimonsters advanced towards us, grinning with excitement. We stood our ground and prepared to fight.

Suddenly, a light blue portal appeared above us. A boy dressed in a red spider ninja outfit jumped out off the portal and sliced a sentimonster resembling Dark Cupid in half with his katana. 

"Isaac!?" We gasped.

"Hey, guys. Mind if we dropped in?" He said with a smirk. Luka and Alix landed next to him.

"Hey, Melody." Luka said, winking at me.

"What is she doing here!?" Alya asked, pointing at Alix bitterly.

"Can we talk about this later?" I asked.

Alya sighed and nodded.

"Where's my girl, Agreste!?" Isaac shouted.

"Which one?" Adrien asked smugly.

"Don't screw with me! Where is Cassie!?" Isaac demanded.

 To answer his question, a girl in a blood red scorpion jumpsuit dragged Cassie towards them. She was covered in cuts and bruises. Tears leaking from her eyes. Next to her was Andrew, covered in bloody cuts and syringe holes.

"CAS! ANDY!" Isaac called.

"What did you do to them!?" Zoe growled.

"Let's just say that they had fun torturing them. Now, it's your turn." The girl, Stacy, said as she uncoiled her whip. Her friends and her older sister entered the warehouse and smirked.

"Get ready!" I called as we brandished our weapons, preparing to fight.
