Chapter 11: Heroes vs Heartbreaker

Zoe POV

We raced across the rooftops, following Heartbreaker, who was riding a hoverboard shaped like a broken heart. He kept firing beams at civilians, leaving them reeling in pain and clutching their chests in pain. 

"Heartbreaker!" I shouted and launched my spinning top at his hoverboard. He jumped off and landed on top of a roof with a roll. He scowled at us.

"You must have a death wish if you guys think you can stop me." He said and fired his beams at us. We dodged. Shadow Serpent snapped a kick at him. Heartbreaker dodge and kicked him in the back. 

"Take this!" Armour-dillo shouted and lashed out his rope dart at him. Heartbreaker parried it with his sword and struck the hilt of his sword into his gut. Armour-dillo coughed and kneeled onto the ground. Before he could finish him off, I dropkicked him in the back. He rolled to the side and got up.

"I will break your heart for that!" Heartbreaker shouted and fired a beam at me.

"DEFLECT!" Nino shouted and summoned an energy field in front of us, rebounding the beam right back at Heartbreaker, who shrugged it off with an evil smirk.

"You can't hurt me with my own power, dumbass!" He said a swiped his sword. Ladybug knocked the sword out of his hand with her yo-yo. Shadow Serpent caught the sword and snapped it in half with Cataclysm. 

No akuma came out.

"What?" He gasped. Heartbreaker grabbed Luka and kneed him in the face a few times before kicking him aside. Alya swiped her staff at  him, but the blow landed on his hoverboard, which floated in front of him and wacked her in the face, knocking a tooth out.

"He's too strong. We can't beat him." I said.

"He's way stronger than Dark Cupid." Nino added.

"Maybe even stronger than Princess Justice." Marinette said in awe.

Heartbreaker summoned his sword and fired a beam at us, knocking us off our feet. He walked towards us.

"I'll be taking those from you." He said as he reached for our miraculous. 

Suddenly, a whip struck him in the face. He lost his footing and rolled across the ground. In front of us was Scorpia.

"Sorry I was late. I went to check if my brother is ok. Turns out he was one of the victims of Heartbreaker." Cassie said.

"Yeah. I wonder why." Nino  said with a frown.

"Can we talk later?" I asked and got back to my feet. The others did the same and got into their stances.

"Isaac, I know you're hurt. But we can talk about this." Cassie said.

"No. I'm done talking." Isaac replied and swiped his sword at us. Cassie blocked it with the butt of her whip. Nino punched Isaac in the stomach. Alya spun her staff and struck him in the face.

Heartbreaker stumbled and fired a beam at us again. Nino used deflect again and aimed the beam at him. He shrugged it off again and laughed.

"Dumbass! Are you really that stupid!?" He taunted and swiped his sword at him. Nino side stepped and wrapped his rope dart around his sword. With a tug, he pulled the sword out of his hands and tossed it aside.

"VEMON!" I shouted and darted forward. Heartbreaker snapped a kick at me, but Ladybug used her yo-yo to strike him in the head, stunning him. I jabbed my sting at his lower back, immobilising him. 

"Vesperia, the hoverboard!" Nino shouted. I looked behind me and saw the hoverboard. Before it could hit me, Alya snapped it in half with her staff.  Cassie lashed out her whip and struck the pendent around his neck, freeing a navy blue feather

Ladybug caught the feather with her yo-yo, purifying it. She released a white feather and summoned a bunch of roses.

"Not even going to ask." Alya sighed. After saying her catchphrase, she freed everyone of Heartbreaker's heart pains. Heartbreaker fell to his knees and turned back into Isaac.

"Wha- What happened?" He said.

"You were Amokized, Isaac." Ladybug said as she helped him to his feet. He looked over the edge of the roof and saw everyone recovering from their heart pains.

"I did this?" Isaac gasped.

Cassie nodded sadly. Isaac looked down.

"I'm sorry. I tried to resist but it was too much for me. Lady Peacock got a firm grip on my heart and my willpower just shattered." He said.

I patted his head and smiled.

"It wasn't your fault, Isaac. We don't blame you for it." I said.

Isaac nodded and returned my smile, albeit his eyes were filled with sorrow and regret.

Our miraculous started to beep.

"You guys better go." Isaac said.

"What about you?" Cassie asked.

Isaac turned his back on her, not much to her suprise.

"I need to be alone for a bit." He replied.

Cassie shrugged and left. I placed a hand on Isaac's shoulder.

"Don't be hard on Cassie. She made her choice. I think you should respect that." I said.

"I'll try to. But it won't be easy." He replied.

I smiled and prepared to follow the others.

"Zoe." Isaac called.

"Yeah?" I answered.

"When I was amokized, I heard Lila's voice. It's most likely that Lila is Lady Peacock." He said.

I looked back and nodded.

"You're right about Lilly and August. There is something suspicious about them. You think they might be Lila and Adrien?" I responded.

"I don't know. But I will keep an eye out for them." He replied.

"As will I. Take care." I said and darted across the rooftops, making my way back to the school.
