It was yet another day with the Host Club- and, Haruhi noted as she made her way into Music Room 3, while it could be strange at times it was never boring.
She reassured herself that this was the reason she kept coming here, and most definitely not because of the ginger haired twin known as Hikaru. Certainly not his cheeky personality, or his handsome features, his caring brown eyes, his amusing antics with Kaoru-
No. Most certainly not.
The brunette had never been the daydreaming type, and yet Hikaru's face seemed to fill her mind every time she closed her eyes- everything about him was intoxicating, to the point where it nearly frightened her.
Sighing, Haruhi opened the door to the music room, greeted as usual by the array of sweet scented roses.
"Hello, boys," she called, looking around. "What theme have you-" Haruhi broke off, stunned.
Tamaki grinned widely at her. "Why hello, Haruhi! You see, our theme today is bad boys, and I think we've done a rather good job at it!" He gestured proudly a himself and the other host club members.
Haruhi covered her mouth to stifle a giggle, but it didn't work. The boys stared at her in confusion, and she burst out laughing for a moment before she could answer their unspoken question.
"Y-you all look ridiculous!" she gasped between laughs, doubled over with the force of her amusement. "If you're aiming for badass, you've got quite a long way to go!"
Each host was wearing all leather clothing- leather boots, leather pants, and leather jackets with a fancy black t-shirt underneath. As if that wasn't bad enough, they all had a specific colored rose pinned to the chest of their jackets, just like they wire with their usual uniforms, and were wearing large aviator sunglasses. Obviously none had ever seen an actual "badass" before. They were way, way to rich for that. But Haruhi had lived in the poorer areas of town for quite some time and knew exactly how hilarious they would seem to the real gangsters on the streets.
Honey stared at her, eyes wide and tearing up. "Y-you don't like it?"
The woman couldn't help but to comfort the owner of those cute little eyes and face. "No, Honey-sempai! You look fine. Not what actual 'bad boys' would wear, but I'm sure that the girls will love you all the same."
The little blonde boy sniffed. "You really think so?"
Haruhi grinned. "Of course!"
He grabbed her in a tackling hug, startling her with his strength despite his small stature. It was so easy to forget that he was a world renowned martial artist, she thought dryly as she pulled away.
Without really meaning to, her large brown eyes shifted to Hikaru. Was it just her, or was that jealously she saw in the depths of his amber eyes? No, it couldn't be, she chided herself internally as she focused her attention back on the cheerfully chatting Honey. He obviously didn't share her feeli- wait. She didn't have feeling for Hikaru! She didn't, did she?
It was quite perturbing, Haruhi reflected with some irritation. Because she definitely didn't have feelings for the handso- the redhead.
Most definitely not.
*. *. *. *. *.
It wasn't that much later when Haruhi found herself walking alone down the first year hall.
"Haruhi!"
Startled, the young woman whirled around, only to come face to face with the object of her recent thoughts.
"Hikaru!" she stammered, face turning red before she could stop it. The ginger was still dressed in his get up from that afternoon's Host Club meeting, although his sunglasses were on too of his head rather than over his eyes. His pale face, though, was flushed. Probably from running, she figured.
"I need to ask you something," he muttered, looking away. Haruhi frowned, head tilting to the side slightly. Was something wrong?
"Go on," she encouraged, voice gentle. "What is it?"
He swallowed, face turning an even deeper shade of red. "W-Willyougoonadatewithme?'
One eyebrow on Haruhi's face rose a fraction. "Wait, what? Say that again, but slower." She had most definitely not heard what she'd thought she'd heard...
Hikaru inhaled deeply. "I asked," he whispered, "If you would go on a date with me."
Haruhi froze. Time seemed to stop, and her heart was pounding in her chest like a giant bass drum. Was this real? she thought dazedly. This wasn't a dream, was it? Shaking her head, she met Hikaru's hopeful eyes.
"Wha-Sur- Yes!" she stammered, entire face turning red. "Of course!"
The boy seemed to relax, a giant smile spreading across his face. "I knew you would say yes!" he insisted, laughing despite his red cheeks. "I knew it!"
"Sure you did," Haruhi mumbled, face still flushed with embarrassment. Hikaru, though, suddenly overcome with happiness, grabbed her arm and pulled her in for a hug. Their heartbeats were in sync, Haruhi thought as she instinctively moved closer to him. It was perfect...
"I guess," she laughed, peering up at him through her bangs, "That even dressed like that you're not so much of a bad boy."
Hikaru grinned right back. "Apparently not."
She could have said something snide right back, but she didn't.
She didn't want to ruin this perfect moment.
