Requested by @Izzy2o1 and I apologize that this is so ridiculously late, I'm behind on all of my writing projects whether it be stories or one shot requests. Again, I'm really sorry!

It was a nice night in Central, you supposed. Quiet. Warm but not hot. Unlike many summer nights there was no thin mist of rain, no clouds covering the dark, dark sky. The night was perfectly clear, and you could see the cold light of a thousand stars glittering back at you.
You didn't really care, though. You were behind caring. You didn't know where you were heading or where the hell you would go, but you just had to get out of here, get out of this dreaded pit of a city before it was too late. Not four hours ago, you'd discovered by accident the terrible truth behind the military- that they were being controlled by a terrible creature known as a homunculus, and that many of the higher ranking officers were in league with the false human. It would be easier, you supposed, just to end your life here and now. Before they found you, before they could torture what information you had out of you. But that would do nothing- your death would do absolutely nothing, and if there was one thing that you would not do it would be to die a meaningless death.
Boots scuffed repeatedly against the rough cobblestone of the streets, and you stumbled once or twice. I have to get out, you thought numbly. I have to get out- your thoughts were no longer coherent but rambled, and your [e/c] eyes attempted to flutter closed more than once as you walked. You could have called a car or taxi, but that could- however unlikely- alert the military to your presence.
Without warning your foot caught on a particularity loose stone, causing you to lies your balance. You stumbled forward but, sluggish from both extreme sleep deprivation and stress, your reactions weren't quite fast enough. Your head hit the blunt edge of a stone with a thud, and then everything went black.
*. *. *. *. *.
Ed was walking slowly down the street, hands tucked in pockets and acting like he hadn't a care in the world. When, in fact, he was very worried. The homunculi were- although he would never in a million years admit this to anyone but himself- beginning to frighten him. He didn't trust them or their motives, and he also didn't want them to get in the way of getting his and Al's body back. He'd left Al behind at the hotel, deciding that he needed some time alone to walk and think.
He didn't get much of that anymore.
Something suddenly caught his eye. A crumpled form nearby on the road, sprawled halfway into the street and halfway on the sidewalk. They were barely visible because of the lack of street lamps in this section of Central, but it was a good thing he had seen the person. Ed's golden eyes widened, talking in the scene.
Not even really thinking, he raced towards the unconscious person, immediately checking for a pulse. He found one easily, and heaved a sigh of relief before looking for any obvious injuries. Turning the person onto their back he instantly saw the bloody gash on their forehead and winced.
"Did they trip or something?" Ed muttered, brow furrowing. Either way, he had to get this person to the hospital. Even if they weren't seriously injured, it'd be a good idea to check them out.
Carefully he started to lift the person up, even though they were heavy and limp and hard to carry. Ed's bangs fell into his eyes, and he blew them out of his eyes without really thinking. "Let's get you to the hospital," he said softly.
Before he couldn't take even a step, a soft voice stopped him in his tracks.
"Don't."
*. *. *. *. *.
You were barely conscious, but you knew that whoever was now lifting you was planning no on taking you to the hospital. To the hospital... and towards the military.
"Don't," you managed to whisper, [e/c] eyes opening as you stared up at your would be rescuer. "Please, don't."
The boy- for he couldn't be much older than fifteen or sixteen- looked startled. "Why not?" he exclaimed. "You're injured, aren't you?"
"Because..." you rasped, trying to straighten your head. "Because the military... I can't." Before you knew it you were telling this short blonde boy everything you knew about the Fuhrer, his true nature, recent activities, and allies. Through it all his expression changed from guarded to angry to a mix of fury and fear, and when you finally stopped talking, voice hoarse, he smiled gently down at you, his gold eyes meeting your own [e/c] ones.
"Thank you," he said quietly, still holding you up. "Thank you. You have... You have no idea how much this helps. I'll take you back to my hotel right now, and we'll try and fix ya up. The Fuhrer won't be getting to you anytime soon, you hear?"
Still unsure of why you'd told him everything, you could only summon a weak smile in response, but truthfully you felt relieved that this boy was taking you in, that he said he was going to protect you. You still didn't know him, didn't know his name or what he did or if get could even live up to his promise, but you did know one thing for sure-
Despite it all, you felt safe in his arms.
