Requested by @Lucanorith I am so, so sorry for how late this is, but I'm just extremely behind on all of my writing in general. I should be done with the other two requests I've gotten in a day or two, so at least that'll be out of the way.
Anyways, without further ado, here is your long awaited Gumi x Reader.
~~~~~~~~
"[y/n]!" came the cheerful voice from behind you. "[y/n]!"
You turned around, unable to keep a smile from spreading actual your face as you saw Gumi standing there in front of you. She was your best friend- sweet, kind, somewhat ditzy and quiet, but the pretty girl also had a mischievous streak. Everybody thought that Gumi was shy, but it really wasn't the case- she was just somewhat quieter and more reserved than the other Vocaloids (and boy did they need a voice of calm and reason- not a day went by when Kaito didn't steal from an ice cream shop or Rin ran over somebody with her roadroller or something happened that needed the attention of a somewhat mature).
What's up, Gumi?"
A light flush had spread across Gumi's cheeks giving them a rosy glow. You couldn't quite tell whether it was from embarrassment or from her having jogged over to find you, but you figured that Gumi would tell you sooner or later. This was Gumi, after all.
"I was wondering if you might like to come over to my apartment," the girl said shyly, shifting her feet. You grinned back at her.
"Of course I will, Gumi! Anything for you." You stretched out your arms, muscles trembling slightly at the strain. "But when?"
Gumi shrugged. "I was thinking right now, if you could make it."
You got up with another smile from your comfortable position. "I'm all for it. You are my best friend, after all." The girl smiled back, but it was a taut smile. Was that... Fear she could see within the girl's big green eyes? No, it couldn't be. Gumi was always happy and excited and friendly- almost never upset.
All the way in the short walk back to Gumi's apartment you two made small talk, but it was easy to see that something was wrong. Gumi was tense, her hands clutching her skirt tightly and her shoulders taut. Every time you asked Gumi a question she would answer, but her words were short and clipped, as if she was nervous and stressed.
Okay, now you were worried. What could have gotten Gumi to act like this? Your friend was never in this bad of a mood unless something terrible happened.
... So had it?
But, being the good friend that you were, you decided to respect Gumi's wishes and wait until they got back to her place. As soon as she'd closed the door behind you two, though, you whirled around to face here not even bothering to admire the prettily decorated interior like you usually did.
"Okay Gumi, spill the beans. What's wrong?"
The green haired girl hesitated, cheeks reddening. "I..."
You sighed. "Go on?"
She swallowed, face gradually turning shades of red you didn't even know existed. "I-I like you..." Gumi mumbled, hands behind her back.
Completely oblivious, you cocked your head to one side. "Well considering that you're my best friend, I would hope that you like me."
If it was even possible at this point, Gumi's face got even more red. "N-no, I mean... I mean I like you in a romantic way!" Before she could stop herself, the words just babbled out of her mouth. "I-I think I'm in love with you. Every time I'm around you your smile always makes me so happy and I just want to-"
Time seemed to stop as you stared at Gumi. Your hands shook, face heating up to what felt like a thousand degrees Fahrenheit.
"You love me?" You repeated hoarsely, mind whirling. Your heart began to beat faster as you stared at her, barely even daring to let yourself hope that this might be real.
"Yes..." Gumi muttered, staring at the ground. "But it's okay if you don't feel the same, I'm sorry if I ruined our friendship by saying this but I just couldn't keep it in any-"
Your lips cut off her words. Placing your hands on her cheeks your lips connected with hers, and after a moment of surprise Gumi kissed you back, wrapping her arms around your neck. After only a minute you both pulled away, not because of a need for air but just because you desperately wanted to see her face and reaction.
Smirking playfully at the pretty green haired girl who stood blushing in front of you, you twirled your fingers in locks of her wavy hair.
"So, does that answer your question?"
Gumi grinned, eyes sparking with a light and life that you'd never seen in them before. "Why yes. Yes it did."
