Chapter 7

He's Gone

*April's P.O.V*

I woke up and realized that not everyone is awake yet. I tried my best not to wake Blake up.

I slipped on my shoes and approached the huge window. It was already from what I think is seven a.m.

I heard some shuffling and I decided to go check it out, I went to the eating area and saw nothing. Maybe it was just me imagining things.

But I heard the shuffling again, I went back to my cell and grabbed my crossbow then I ran outside.

The morning air feels so fresh and I exhale deeply. I saw a fast movement and I turned to my right and saw nothing.

The curiosity inside me wanted to know what it is so I went to the front gate.

There I saw the back of Merle running into the woods.

What is he doing out there?

I was about to open the gate when someone startle me, "April?" I looked to see Rick.

"Why are you up so early?" he asked.

"I could say the same to you," I replied.

"I was just checking, and saw you out here, what are you doing?" he questioned.

"N- nothing, I just want to feel the fresh air," I lied and he nodded. Suddenly I felt tired again so I yawned.

"I think you still need more sleep," he stated and I nodded.

"Yeah I might," I said and I excuse myself before going back to my cell.

But I'm still questioning where would Merle go?

"April, wake up!" I opened my eyes when suddenly I was carried.

I finally can see better surroundings. Ella was carrying her crossbow and mine's crossbow. I check to see who was carrying me.

Daryl.

"Umm Daryl what are you doing?" I asked.

"Merle and Michonne are gone, we're going after him," him? So that means there are no plans on bringing back Michonne?

"Daryl stop," Rick says.

"We're going after Merle, he's our brother!" Daryl spat.

"Don't be selfish Daryl do you think your sisters want to come along?" Rick stated.

Daryl put me down, "Lil April and lil Ella, which option would you like to choose? Home or brother?" I look down.

"Merle," I muttered but Daryl and Rick heard it.

"April, you might want to think twice," Daryl was about to say something but Ella beats him to it.

"We're coming back, with Merle and Michonne," Ella said.

Rick just nodded and the gate was opened, the three of us stepped outside and kill the walkers that blocked our way.

"Why would Merle and Michonne run away? The prison is nice," Ella said. I can tell that she feel guilty because she just fought with Merle yesterday.

"I'm pretty sure there's a reason, and I don't think they ran away, they have a plan," I stated.

Daryl suddenly lowered down and trace the ground, "This way," he pointed.

I spotted a squirrel so I prepared my crossbow. I aim for it and it hits the head.

"I heard that you like squirrels Daryl," I teased and handed the squirrel to Daryl.
