Near Yet Far

April's P.O.V

I was tying on the knot I was working on before deciding that I should take a break.

"Hey," Blake spoke as he sat down beside me.

I just hummed in reply as I uncapped my water bottle and gulped it down, "What were you doing?"

"Just making sure they wouldn't fall off," I shrugged looking at the stem that held up the fence.

"You're too paranoid. We're safe now," he said and I just shrugged once more. The even that took place last two months shaken up everyone and I was too.

I bit my lip as I stared in the distance, "I'm going to rest," I said and he nodded before I stood up and make my way toward the gates.

"Michonne," I called out but she was staring at the outside. I climbed up and look at what she was staring to sed a guy running inside the woods.

"Who was that?" I asked, taking the gun from Michonne since she looked like she's going to follow the guy.

"Spencer," she mumbled before hopping off the fence.

I continued to guard until something caught my eye. Wait, is that..

I immediately jumped out and followed the walker. I raised my gun just in case as I suddenly bumped into something.

"Fuck!" I hissed and ready to kill the walker but it turns out that it was Carl.

"Carl? What are you doing here," I asked.

He just remained silent as the walker I kept following turned around and made its way toward me.

"We couldn't kill her," I said and Carl nodded. I then remembered that Spencer was out here along with Michonne.

I ran pass the walker and whistled at it so it would follow me. She snarled at me as I led her to Spencer.

"April?" I heard Michonne's voice.

"Spencer," I called out and he look at me, "yeah I know,"

He pulled out a knife and Michonne held back Deanna as I turn around not wanting to see what happened.

When a slash was heard I knew it was over so we all returned back home.

"Hey," I heard someone called out and I turned to Levi.

"Sup," I replied as we walked toward our house.

"Nothing much. Kind of bored actually," she sighed and I smiled while kicking a stone.

"Weird huh? One minute we were cornered up about to die, then next thing we know is that we have nothing to do," I stated.

"Hmm. But its nice, reminded me on the previous world," she said.

Previous world.

Images of dad beating me and Ella popped into my head.

"Right," I mumbled and soon we dropped the topic as we talked about something else.

-

Nighttime had come and I was guarding on the east side of the community.

Moans were heard and my heart start pacing faster. God I shouldn't be so scared easily.

After then the groans disappeared so I knew it was a walking by walker.

Letting out a breath I didn't realize was holding I noticed lights flickering from somewhere in the forest.

Probably just my imagination..

"Heyy," I yelped slightly and turned around to see Blake sitting down beside me.

"Gosh you scared me," I said and he just grinned at me as we fell into silence.

"Do you think the world would ever come into its end?" Blake blurted out of nowhere causing me off guard.

"Whuh?"

"Like, this world had come to its ending considering the apocalypse happened. So when do you think the time will come? The true ending," he explained and I bit my lip before continuing to look around.

"I don't know. Hopefully soon, but at the same time I wished it would never happen," I muttered and turn to see Blake.

He was here, but at the same time I felt like he was away.

"You okay?" I asked and placed down my gun to tap Blake's shoulder.

"Yeah. I'm going to sleep," he mumbled before pecking my lips and left.

That was weird.

I shrug it off and continued my duty before Dan approached me to switch.

-

Waking up I was alone in my bed, then I went to take a shower and walked downstairs to see Levi.

"Do you see Blake?" I asked and she shrugged.

"Saw him left this morning. When I asked why he said that he was going to search for supplies," she answered.

"Why didn't he just tag along with Rick today," I muttered.

I had a bad feeling about this so I grabbed my crossbow and ran outside of the community.

There were footsteps on the muddy ground and they looked like they belonged to Blake so I followed its trace.

Just then it stopped. And I was left confused.

But something grabbed my wrist and I gasped while a walker fell on top of me.

I tried to get it off but another walker came and made me even more nervous.

"Blake!" I screamed out and tried to avoid being bit. My crossbow was near me yet it felt so far.

Just as the walker was about to eat me it stopped groaning and Blake pulled the knife out of the walker's brain.

I then realized there were a couple of walkers so I pick up my crossbow and start shooting at them.

When it all stopped I turn to Blake and pulled him into a hug, "I was so worried,"

"I know, I'm sorry," he replied and when he pulled away my jaw dropped at the sight.

"Blake," I whispered and Blake nodded.

"Yeah. I know, let's go back," he said and we return back to Alexandria as Blake went to Denise.

Tears stream down my face as I went to Ella.

I banged on the door and she opened it, "April, what's wrong?"

"Blake. He was bit,"
