"I can't think of anyone who would want to hurt us." I mumbled exhaustedally as I wrapped a straightened strand of my chestnut colored hair around my seagreen painted index finger.

The high intensity of the hospital lights streamed magnificently into my grey eyes and I blinked hard to refocus my vision on sheriff Parks.

He was quite young, only about twenty-four. And he was very attractive. Quickly shielding my lips with the palm of my hand, I yawned aggressively and quickly apologized. His mouth pulled into a warm smile. I could tell he was just as tired as I was. We have been sitting on the uncomfortable hospital chairs for several hours now.

To backtrack I'll just leave it at after the ambulances arrived Toby road with Riley to the hospital while Connor and I got taken into the police station for further questioning.

After three hours of numerous questions Sheriff Parks offered to take Connor and I to the hospital to check up on Riley and see if Toby wanted to go home and rest or relax.

Mr. Parks decided to stay with, just in case the rest of the squad found any clues in who might have plotted this.

"Maybe it was just an accident?" He suggested while raising a eyebrow and beaming into my eyes. I could see my reflection in his dark, yet soft chocolate colored orbs.

I shook my head while frowning. "I highly doubt that." I started. "After we were hit, I saw the car waiting and then they just drove away."

He frowned at that and leaned his head against the cement wall. Inhaling deeply I realized I hated the smell of hospitals. Or at least this hospital in general. It smelled of pine floor cleaner, old coffee, medicine and iron. It was such an odd combination.

Connor and Toby were in Riley's room currently, while I waited in the waiting room with Sheriff Parks. Only two visitors were allowed at one time. And the Doctors released that the only thing that was wrong with Riley was just a few minor cuts on his arms. They say he must have shielded his face when he went through the windshield.

He also had a sprained wrist and a large bump on his head. After he hit his head he passed out pretty quickly. He should be fine though, and wake up soon.

Humming quietly I shut my eyes. And after at least five minutes I felt a familiar hand on my shoulder and I glared upwards to see Connor and Toby standing above me.

"Did he wake up?" I shouted a bit too loudly for the nurses liking. They hushed me urgently and I apologetically mouthed 'sorry'.

Connor frowned and I stood up knowingly and threw my arms around him. His head rested in the nape of my neck and I rubbed his back soothingly.

"Don't worry, this is Riley we're stressing about. Remember when he fell of the roof of your house and he laughed? He's going to be just fine!"

I could feel him smile and I pulled away, smiling as well. I could tell Toby was taking this very strong and calmly and I gave him a quick hug as well, before getting into the only elevator at the end of the entrance and waiting to reach the top floor of the hospital. Walking through the never-ending narrow hallway felt like forever until I reached my destination.

Sucking in a deep breath before entering his room I glared at the room number; '523' and I forcefully nudged the door wide open.

The temperature increased instantly and I shut the door speedily but quietly. The only noise to be heard was the thump and ring of his heart beating. And the rise and fall of his chest was the only thing indicating he was still alive.

Swallowing the lump that was forming in my throat, I quietly pulled one of the wooden side chairs by the window to the side of his cot.

Before I allowed my gaze to meet Riley's face I searched the scenery. It was nothing like the scenarios I had created in my head.
