Katie's POV

I woke up the next morning to the smell of coffee, pancakes, and an empty bed. It was surprisingly warm in my room but I figured that was just because of Dae Dae and his excessive body heat. I mean it is a wolf thing after all. I sat up and stared out of my window. The curtains were pushed back a little, allowing some sunlight to flow through the room. I sighed, I can't believe I actually fell asleep last night. Vampires don't sleep. That's so weird. I got up and hopped in the shower before getting dressed and going downstairs into the kitchen where I found Dejuan making breakfast. "Morning Dae!" He turned around and smiled at me, "Good morning, Princess!" Princess. Hm. That was the name he had called me last night. I don't know how I feel about that. "I made pancakes. Are you hungry?" He paused for a moment and chuckled at himself, "You're a vampire. You don't eat." I chuckled, "Actually I'm starving! Pass them pancakes over here!" He laughed and handed me a plate, "We need to talk about last night?" I picked up my fork, "Heh. Where do we even start?" Dae was quiet for a moment while he made coffee, then finally turned around and spoke, "What happened to your parents?" I froze. How was I supposed to tell him that I killed them?! He would definitely be angry with me and would probably leave so...I had to lie. "They left after you passed out...they aren't coming back anytime soon." Dae Dae looked suspicious of me but sighed, "Ok...and..what happened with me?" I finished my pancakes and put the plate in the sink, "First off, those pancakes are the best pancakes I have ever had in my lifetime," Dejuan smiled, "and second, I already told you what happened. You attacked me, remember?" He sighed and ran his fingers through his dark, luscious curls, "I barely remember anything from last night, Love. Did I...say anything?" I hesitated, I didn't know if I should tell him, but when I looked into his deep, hazel eyes, I saw a cry for the truth. So I told him. "After you had pounced on me," I started, "you growled at me and said, 'You're mine, Princess. I'm gonna make sure it stays that way.'" I watched as his eyebrows furrowed and he cringed at his own words. "I really said that?" I nodded, "What do you think you meant by that?" Dejuan stared out of the window for a second and bit his lip in question. It's something he always did when he was thinking. "I don't know...maybe it's a sign?" He inched closer to me and placed his hands on my face but quickly moved away. "What's wrong?" I asked, genuinely confused. "Your face...it's...it's warm.." He said. His eyebrows furrowed again and he grabbed my hands, "And so are your hands..." He brought his attention back to my face, "Your cheeks are rosy- Baby let me see that bite." "Ok...." I moved my hair out of the way and turned my head to the left. It was then that I heard a panicked gasp from my boyfriend. "What is it?" "I-I um...That bite...it's really deep, Baby." He managed to say through his shock. I turned my head back to look at him, "What...does that mean, Dae?" He bit his lip, indicating that he was in deep thought, "The sleep. The eating. The random warmth in your body. And the rosy cheeks? We need to get you back to my pack."
