TW: mentions of blood, read with caution if delicate to subject

A/N- YOU'RE WELCOME

"Okay, question." The girl said as I placed the mug back down.

"Shoot." I say, turning so I could get a better look at the TV.

"Best shot you've ever took?" She asks.

Clint chuckled and nodded over me, telling me to answer first. "I uh- once shot this purple dude in the neck? Uh... the only other one I can think of is the time I electrocuted someone with full armour on and a helmet, considering they basically knew my every move, it was good."

"YOU SHOT THANOS?!" The girl asked, suddenly very proud of me.

"Yes..?" I raised an eyebrow at her. "The only way he didn't see it coming was he was too preoccupied by a guy who was three times his height who was stepping on parts of his army." The girl laughed at my comment before we seemed to subconsciously turn to Clint for his answer.

"Uh... the one I didn't take." He replied, sitting up in the armchair.

"What does that mean?" She asked him, confusion running through the question.

When I glanced away from the TV to look at Clint, it seemed as though he was contemplating saying the answer or not. "Uh... it means... never mind, shouldn't have said it-" He chuckled.

"Oh, come on, you can't do that." Kate complained.

"Never mind, it's nothin'" He claimed, but I could smell bullshit a mile off.

"What?! No, come on, consider it my Christmas present." The stubborn girl I was laying my head on said to him. The two continued to argue like five-year-olds while I waited for him to tell said story, knowing shit was gonna go down if he didn't tell.

"It's not a good story, okay?" He suddenly said, quite firmly. It went silent, but by the sudden change of atmosphere, there was only so many guesses I would need to take before knowing who it would be about. "It's... about the time I me someone. And, I as sent to take her out."

Oh fuck no am I doing this.

"And, when I got there, when it was time... uh.." He didn't seem to know how to find the words. "I couldn't do it." Silence, while I tried to keep my emotions under control. "I just... had this feeling, that she wanted out."

"Yeah, well, turns out you were right." I say to him, with a tear in my eyes as I looked away from him, at the TV, but it didn't help much.

"You mean, Natasha?" She asks, and we both seemed to nod in unison.

"She was the best there was." He said. God, he could say that a thousand times, and it still wouldn't measure up to how incredible she was.

"Yeah, yet we're still here." I muttered, remembering what Eleanor had said early. You can still be good at being an Avenger, but it doesn't mean you can't die.

Fucking stupid orange stupid ass rock.

"I'm sorry." Kate says to us.

"It's fine." I tell her. GAY ALERT (Or whatever you want to call it). She slipped her hand into mine, squeezing it tightly, as if to let me know she was there. God knows I needed someone to be there for me. I guess I just wasn't expecting it to be Kate Bishop, huh. "When you uh... do what we do... it's just a little bit more... deadly."
