𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐓 𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐍: 𝐊𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐜𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐚𝐬, 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐲 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟

The walk home was quiet, awkward and full of me overthinking. Eleanor had brought up Natasha at the worse time possible, for both me and Clint. She had been a second parent to me, looking after me when Clint couldn't. And now, with her gone, it was now down to me actually talking to my parents. Something that could be easier said than done.

Good news was, though, dad had stolen back the Ronin sword which I'd noticed was sat on the side. We'd already got mom on the look at Sloan LTD, seeing what we could find out about the company, hoping to get something good from it.

It took no more than ten minutes of a walk before we got a call back. She was a quick one when it came to finding information.

"Heya, mama." I answered as we walked down the street. "Did you find anything?"

"I talked to that friend of yours... He's really busy." She began, obviously trying to be discrete due to others around the house.

"Right..." I murmur.

"He's been learning Russian and jogging a ton." I raise an eyebrow as dad also heard.

"Right... so the tracksuits are involved somehow... So what, Sloan is their front?" I ask her.

"Yep." She said with ease. "He said that his boss, Jack Duquesne, never gives him a day off." I stopped in the middle of the street at the name.

"Wait, seriously?" I ask her.

"So, Jack's CEO?" Clint asks. "He's laundering money for the big guy?"

She was quiet down the phone for a moment, almost worrying me. "Let me take a guess, you're going to need another day."

"Yeah, well, Kate is in the middle of it all, we can't leave her now that we've met her mom, therefore, gotta wait until she's safe." I explained to her, hearing Clint chuckle at my great explaining skills.

"I've been wondering." She says, before suddenly changing language to German. Good thing of being brought up by Natasha, Clint and Laura, is that at the end of your teen years, chances are you at least know three different languages. "Fehlt noch etwas auf dem Gelände?"

"You mean, the Rolex?" Dad asks her.

"Genau." She replied quietly, probably still trying to hide the call from my sister and brothers.

"I don't... I don't think so." He said to her through his headphone.

"You don't sound so sure." I tell him as we got to the outside of the appartment.

"Wasn't it destroyed, like, years ago?" He asks her, still unsure.

"Well, I thought so, but I thought the same thing about your fancy outfit." Laura says to him, proving a valid point.

He was silent for a moment before I spoke up. "It's worth looking into, though." I say. "If it's still there, see if you can check the transmitter's signal." I tell her.

"Okay.. you both sound like you've been runnin' around all day. Are you tired?" She asks us, making me smile a little.

"Just a wee bit." I tell her, looking at Clint's very, very tired face.

"Well, tell your dad to put his feet up. Ice them, if you have to." She tells me.

"I am not icing his feet." I say, hearing a silent chuckle from my mom on the other side.
