𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐓 𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐄𝐓𝐄𝐄𝐍: 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐟𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝

For a good minute, he was quiet, taking in what I'd just said. I'd only spoken about the whole thing with the Red Room once after I'd came back to the farm. And, I'd mentioned everything I could before I'd kept quiet. That was on him if he knew Yelena personally or not.

"Yelena?" His voice was quiet, still so lost at what I'd just said.

"Yeah." I say, voice just as soft. It was quiet in the car, and we were just coming up to another crossing when dad stopped the car, suddenly getting out. While insisted to the driver I'll give him a tip, both me and Kate got out of the vehicle also, going after the old man in the middle of the road.

"Okay... you alright?" Kate asks the both of us, but he was still holding his arm in pain, and was obviously not taking the news too well.

"Yeah.." Dad murmured quietly, but, that didn't sound like a persuadable answer.

"Dance!" Grills told Pizza Dog. He hopped around beside me like it was no big deal. My eyes went wide at the dog's skills before it hopped back down to be fed a treat. As the other two chuckled in amazement, I tried to go back to eating my food with one hand.

Kate's hand stayed laid on top of mine on the table, while trying to get the dog to dance with the other hand. "Dance- oh- no-" I chuckled a little as the dog whined, just waiting for the treat in her hand, instead. "DANCE." She emphasised the word to the pizza dog, but nothing happened.

"How'd you do it?" I asked Grills with a smile.

The guy chuckled while Kate complained as she tried to go back to her food. "You made it look so easy and cool!" I threw a piece of sausage from my plate down at the dog beside me, ruffling his fur as the dog ate. When I looked opposite, over at Clint, he was smiling and gesturing over with a nod at our hands, causing me to glare in return, as Kate talked about how cool Grills was. Yes, he was very cool to say the least.

"Ah, stop it!" He dismissed. Kate's phone suddenly went off, but her hand still hadn't left mine. Instead, she dropped her fork back onto the plate and picked it up with her other hand. Another message, and then another, as she stared down at the phone.

Clint took a large sip of his orange juice, far too loud. "Cut it out." I tell him, but he just rolled his eyes. I turned back to look at Kate, but she now had a worried, confused, and lost look on her face. "Hey? What is it?" She didn't look up from the phone.

She looked sadder as time went on. "Kate?" Clint asked, still no response.

"Hey-" I squeezed her hand in mine, and she finally looked over at me, away from the phone. "What's up?" When I looked into her eyes, I'd never seen the girl so scared.

A shaky hand held out the phone for me. "Look at this-" I took one look before over at Clint. "Who's that with my mom?" A chill went down my back as I handed the phone over to Clint.

"Well..." He began. "That's the guy I've been worrying about the whole time." Clint tells her, "Kingpin."

Kate watched the video, at least twice, trying to let it all sink in. Grills had left, with Pizza Dog, and it was now just the three of us. I didn't really need to take a big guess on who could've sent said video. But, it was good to know my assumptions are right.

"Who sent that video?" I asked her quietly, diverting her attention away from the phone.

"Yelena..." The girl said, locking her phone. Giving Clint a look, I mentally noted on having a good and friendly conversation with the Russian at a later date about this topic. "Apparently... my mom was the one who hired her to kill you..."

"Oh god..." I murmured, thinking about this all. This was a BIG mess, to say the least.

"It- it doesn't even make any sense- she- she doesn't even Jaywalk." Kate stumbled on her words as this all began to process in her head. "And, now she's working for the mob? She- she killed Armond?" I looked over at Clint across the table, and I could hear Kate's brain ticking over again. She got up quickly, grabbing her phone. "My god- I need to talk to her-" She was already typing into her phone as the two of us also sprung up from our seats.

"Kate, wait. You gotta calm down, okay?" Clint asked her, but she was typing far too quickly for a normal human being. Her breathing was beginning to speed up slightly. "Let's talk this out-" The girl's phone was already to her ear, but I could hear the answering machine, now.

"Hi, this is Eleanor. I can't answer the phone right now-" She ended the call and I finally got eye contact with her.

"Kate, take a deep breath, okay?" I told her, stepping forward to try and help. "Your mom needs our help, because, well-" I couldn't find the right way of saying it.

"That video... it's not good." Clint tells her bluntly. No shit... "Kingpin will not take this lightly." Clint says. "He is going to react, and he's gonna do it in a big way." Thank god Captain obvious is here.

"Look, Clint, Rob, this is my family's mess to clean up... I mean, you should go home, you should be with your family-" The girl began to ramble on and I sighed as she did so. "You two can still make it in time for Christmas."

Clint sighed as I looked at him. "Kate, we're working together, on this." Clint suddenly blurted. Kate looked up at him at the words. "Whatever the hell this trio is... whatever mess it is- doesn't matter who's it is. It's collectively our mess."

"Messy." I added, smirking a little.

"But, neither me, or your girlfriend are going anywhere until this is finished." Clint continued, trying to ignore my comment, and instead, spited me again with the term girlfriend. When I did look over at Kate, she was close to breaking, but she nodded, also.
