—————————————————————Draco Malfoy's eyelids fluttered as he slowly began his return to consciousness.
The heavy weight of a blissful night's rest filled his senses.
Light, that was the first thing he noticed, then a sound, an urgent, pattering sound.......
Draco writhed against the sheets.
He heard a giggle.
His grey eyes shot wide open as a mischievous squeal called out, "DDDDAAADDDY!"
A small, blonde boy plummeted through the air and landed squarely on Draco's chest.
The surprised alpha groaned as the wind was roughly knocked out of his lungs, but his tiny assailant laughed off his plight, "Daddy, wake up! The sun's already out! How long are you and Mummy going to sleep?"
Draco felt the covers rustle beside him and as he looked over, through the many layers of blankets, he saw his wife crack one emerald eye open.
"We were going to get up soon, Scorpius." Draco yawned as he sat up, in bed and scooted his small son onto his lap, "Remember what I said about Mummy needing her rest? We let Mummy sleep until she's ready to wake."
"Because your birthday present makes Mummy very tired?" Scorpius frowned.
"That's right." Draco smirked.
"But it's New Year's Eve!" Scorpius protested, "Grandpa L says Grandpa S and Gramy are coming and Gram-Gram is getting everything ready and-!!!!"
Draco interrupted his excited child, "-That's all well and good, Scorpius. You know how much Gram-Gram likes it when people help her, eh? Why don't you go and give Gram-Gram a hand for a few minutes? Mummy and I will join you in a moment."
At the tender age of three, Scorpius was still young enough that he took his father's statements for undisputed facts as he leapt off of his father's lap and shouted, "Alright, Daddy!"
Draco sighed to himself while he watched his son run out of the bedroom and down the hallway.
Some alphas would have shouted at their children for interrupting their pregnant mate's rest, but Draco was incredibly soft and caring when it came to any part of his beloved Harriet.
He saw Scorpius, the living product of their love, as one of those parts.
Draco picked his wand up from the nightstand and closed the door with a simple spell before he rolled over in bed and placed a gentle kiss on his groggy mate's lips.
"Go back to sleep, Potter. I'll get up and occupy him for a while." Draco purred quietly.
He paused to admire the way that Harriet's messy, black hair had become enticingly strewn around her.
In the chill of the early morning, her hard, pink nipples were visible through her sheer nightdress.
Her creamy cleavage screamed at him and there, without the restriction of her robes or undergarments, Draco could clearly detect the subtle outline of her pregnant tummy along her lower abdomen.
He reached out and laid a hand on the tiny swell as Harriet yawned.
The second Malfoy baby was due two days before Draco's birthday.
The prospect of sharing his special day with one of his children thrilled him.
"No, I need to stay awake." Harriet sighed as she sat up in bed.
Draco smirked at her before he cupped her cheek, leaned forward, and pressed a kiss to her lips.
As he pulled back, Harriet whispered to him, "......And the midwife never said that this baby will come on your birthday, Malfoy. You're as arrogant as ever."
"You're right, Potter, she didn't. I said this baby will come then." Draco chided as he smirked at Harriet while he pulled away, "And you'll hold him in until then just for me, won't you, love?"
Draco rose from the bed to dress although he found it hard to focus when Harriet treated herself to a languid stretch.
".........And why would I do that?" She asked as she purposely pushed her chest forward so that her breasts bounced teasingly.
The softness in Draco's grey eyes shifted into a glowing stare of longing as he purred, "Because, Potter, I'm your alpha."
Harriet drew in a breath as Draco walked over and leaned down close to her face to whisper, "......I protect.....you give. Don't you want to give me what I want, love?"
As they lips met once more, Draco gently pushed Harriet back on the bed.
Scorpius would be very disappointed.
His Mummy and Daddy's arrival would be a few minutes delayed.
—————————————————————
That evening, Lucius, Narcissa, Severus, Lily, and Harriet all lingered in Malfoy manor's parlor while they watched midnight approach on the enchanted clock.
Scorpius had already fallen asleep on Draco's shoulder.
It was of little matter, they could explain Draco's birthday gift to their son when he woke.
Both Harriet and Draco had decided to make their announcement that evening, on such a memorable night.
Everyone raised their goblets as Draco counted down, "Three.....two....one....Happy New Year!"
The clinking of metal resounded through the room as the family toasted to a new start.
Harriet sipped her sparkling, non-alcoholic cider with a coy smirk as Draco looked at their parents and proudly announced, ".....I suppose you three will meet your second grandchild halfway through it."
Lucius narrowed his eyes.
Narcissa and Lily gasped.
Severus threw his daughter a soft look of quiet knowing.
While everyone embraced and discussed the happy news, Harriet spoke to her father on the side as she laughed and asked, "You already knew, didn't you, Dad?"
"There are few things that can be kept hidden from me. I imagined that you would have learned that by now." Severus drawled.
Harriet ignored her father's coldness.
As Lily looked on in the background, Harriet threw her arms around Severus, laid her head against his chest, and whispered, "I love you, Dad."
Severus frowned as he raised his hands to awkwardly pat his only child's back, but as he looked over and noticed that Lily watched them, he allowed himself to become vulnerable enough to welcome Harriet's embrace.
"You and Mum will be with me, right?" Harriet asked as she pulled away from Severus and smiled up at him, "Just like you were with Scorpius?"
"Always~." Severus replied in a low purr.
Draco walked over and kissed his wife's cheek before he roped Harriet and Severus back into the main conversation.
The snow that fell outside of Malfoy manor that night welcomed another prosperous year for the family.
The war had ended, the last battle had been won, and at last, both generations were finally......happy.
