"Hey, what's up?" I ask, walking up to Braydon who was slowly swinging on the swings. I joined him, waiting for his answer. "You do know it's possible for her to gain her memory back, right?" He said, looking at me.
"Uh, sorta... just don't know how it works." I said truthfully.
"If she were to see a picture of you two or feel like she's in the situation she forgot about, it's a possibility she would remember." He sighed, not sure why, it's a good thing right? "Well, that's not a bad thing, right?"
"I mean... no." He said, "It's great. Just thinking about how we could do that." After he said that, I looked at him knowing the possible solution.
"No." I spoke. "You two can get through anything, I doubt she would drop you because you like her." He cut me off, trying to reason with me. He's suggesting that I remind Loel about what happened. I can't do that.
And instead of debating on it, he changed the subject to talking about the school trip.
-----
It's been a week and 4 days, and I'm at the mall. I never come to the mall, it's really crowded and its basically the schools hang out place. But I'm not here for me, Loel asked me to help her pick out and outfit for her date. Yep. Her date, James.
If she still had her memories I'd still help because I'm her best friend, and I'm kind of a people pleaser when it comes to her.
"So, I was thinking a navy blue or burgundy?" Loel said excitedly as she walks me to rue 21 with her hand wrapped around my finger. I smiled, both colors look great on her. "Navy blue. It does it'll go with that necklace I gave you." I said without thinking.
"What?" She turned, confused. "Well, heh, I saw this necklace on your dresser when I was over at your house, and I thought it would look good with any blue." I say, trying to clear it up as best as I could.
"Oh! I saw that, but I thought my mom left it in my room or something cause I didn't recognize it... but you gave it to me? When?" She looked up at me, her eyes were so big and innocent. Which totally dismays her personality.
"Dude, that is the prettiest necklace I've seen in a while... kinda reminds me of my great grandmothers' necklace." A sad smile curled on her lips. "God, I miss her." She whispered. We were jewelry shopping for her mom's lost ring. Long story short, me and Loel were messing around doing stupid shit and lost her mom's ring and we wanted to buy her a new one before she noticed. It took a lot to earn the money. Surprisingly we got away with it.
"How about we split up, I'd be quicker to find a ring that looks similar that way?" I suggested, not wanting her to see me grab the necklace she wanted. Valintine's day was coming up at the time and even though we weren't a thing, her boyfriend broke up with her the week before, so I just wanted to cheer her up because it's her favorite holiday.
I grabbed the necklace once she was out of sight, and come Valentine's Day, she loved it. It was the first time she kissed me on the cheek.
"It's not important." I smile as we walk into the store. She picked out clothes and asked me to choose between two most of the time, which is typical. She ended up buying a black long sleeve top that was baggy at the sleeves and tight at the wrist part and a burgundy skirt. She said she'd wear long socks and convers shoes, I don't know how that's gonna look, but she always makes her outfits look good, so I'll trust her process.
Right after that, she saw dip and dots. "The hell are those? They look like nerds in different packaging." She laughed at my comment. "It's basically ice cream, but in tiny balls." She showed a picture off her phone. "So, you haven't had any?" She asked.
"Nope?" I say, moving up as the slow line moves. "You HAVE to try birthday cake; it was my first ever flavor when I discovered these too." We were next in line, and she got out her wallet after ordering a birthday cake flavor and an Oreo flavor.
"Wait, let me pay-" I said, but got interrupted. "Already have my wallet out."
"That's not fair, you paid for your clothes." I protest.
"Mhm, you hear that? I paid for MY clothes. Sounds reasonable, no?" She said to me as she gave the cashier her money. "Tch." I roll my eyes and wait for her to give us our circle ice cream things.
We went to sit down outside in front of the mall. The weather was nice and windy, with the perfect amount of warmness filling the air. The sun compliments her big brown eyes and flawless skin.
"So, school trip should be fun, right?" She said, breaking the silence. Before that it wasnt awkward, we were both just admiring our surroundings. "Yeah, I guess? We do it every year so it's nothing new to me anymore to be completely honest."
"Cabins sound so fun, I'm so excited!" Loel's eyes did that sparkly thing they did when she was excited about something. My lips curled into a smile, and I finished my dip and dots without realizing.
"Good luck on your date by the way. It's tomorrow, right?" I ask, knowing the answer. But for some stupid reason I brought up something that hurt me, knowing she's gonna be talking about him and being all gushy about it. But I ran out of things to talk about, so why not die inside? Might as well get used to it... again.
"Ahh, yes, I'm so nervous dude, he was a dick when we first met but when we called, he was so sweet and everything, so I'm excited."
"Where is he taking you?" I ask.
"A fancy restaurant."
Ha. It did make me feel a little better to know that a fancy restaurant is the last place she wants to be for a date.
