"We have one more practice day tomorrow and since today's practice was essentially ruined we are running out of time!" Coach Tandres said harshly.

"We can do an afternoon practice." Coach Coto suggested.

"We have to decide what to do with this situation first." Coach Santos chimed in.

"There's only one thing we can do. The boy has to leave." Mr. Alavas stated.

"No, you can't do that!" I spoke for the first time.

"Olivia!" Coach Coto and Mr. Jones said in unison.

"I know I'm not supposed to speak but this is unfair! Alex didn't do anything wrong!"

"He got into a fight, didn't he?" Coach Tandres asked.

"But so did Neymar! You aren't punishing him!"

"Olivia this isn't school. Neymar is on the Brazilian football team, Alex isn't. We have to do what's best for the team and that means remove any source of tension." Dr. Runco told me.

"So are we all agreed in this?" Mr. Alavas asked before I could object. The coaches started nodding, even Coach Coto.

Coach Stewart, the one who was working with Alex in the midfield cleared his throat. "Let it be noted that I do not agree with this. Alex has been a real asset for me."

"You win some, you lose some." Mr. Alavas said, making me want to punch him. "I am sorry for this Mr. Jones."

Mr. Jones' face was a mask. He didn't say anything.

"So it's settled." Mr. Alavas continued. "I will arrange for the boy to leave first thing tomorrow." He said, standing up.

"Coach!" I yelled, turning to look at Scolari. He was the only one who hadn't said anything the entire time and he hadn't nodded when they voted. "You can't let this happen."

"That's enough Olivia. We allowed you to be in the meeting but the decision has been made." Mr. Alavas said and everyone started clearing out. Scolari had remained in his sit and so did I.

"Why didn't you do something?" I asked him.

"Olivia there's nothing I can do." Scolari told me even if he seemed sad about it. "If Alex remains the consensus would be that we don't take this seriously. And the press would have a field day."

"This isn't fair." I said.

"No, it's not." He said, patting my back before leaving the room.

I got out after him and headed for the game room. Almost everyone was there.

"What happened? What did they say?" Rafaella asked, clasping Alex's hand tightly.

Everyone looked at me expectantly. No one wanted Alex kicked out.

"I'm sorry." I said finally.

Everyone's face fell. People started protesting the decision. Rafaella and Peter were yelling the loudest of all. I approached Alex who was the only one who had remained sitting.

"When do I have to leave?" He asked me when I reached him.

"Tomorrow morning I think." I said. "That old bat, Alavas, is going to schedule you a flight out of Rio."

"That fast?"

"I'm so sorry. I tried, I really did."

"I know you did." Alex smiled at me, patting my knee.

"We can't let this stand! My brother is responsible for this, not you!" Rafaella said.

"He didn't fight alone Rafa." Alex said and I thought I saw guilt in his face.
