In those days, we were lions

In those days, we were kings

The loud knocking on the door was what woke me up. I felt my head heavy and I thought I was at the beginning of a terrible headache the moment I opened my eyes. It took me a second to remember where I was. I looked around Neymar's room but there was no sign of him. I searched for my phone before remembering I didn't take it with me. What time was it, I wondered as I heard a second knock on the door. And then the doorknob turned and I was sitting in Neymar's bed in my pajama shorts and a training bra.

The door opened as I pulled the covers on top of me and froze. I was hoping that whoever came in wouldn't pay much attention to a bulk under the quilt.

I recognized the voice. It was Neymar Sr. and he was talking on the phone. He was looking around the room for something and I hoped he wouldn't raise the covers to look under. I had already decided to pretend I was asleep if that happened but I'd rather avoid it altogether.

Thankfully he found what he was looking for and walked out, still talking on the phone. I emerged from the covers and took a deep breath of relief. I looked for my fuchsia CBF shirt, but it wasn't on the floor where I had left it last night. Instead it was picked up and folded and on top of Neymar's dresser. I wonder if Neymar's dad saw it and if he realized it couldn't have belonged to his son. I looked around for a clock to see what time it was. There weren't any but I did spot Neymar's laptop on a chair and powered it on. He wouldn't mind, would he?

With horror I saw that I was late for practice. Too late. I couldn't believe Neymar didn't wake me up! I washed my face in the sink in the bathroom and put my shirt on. My torso still hurt from yesterday's injury. I ran towards my room without running into anyone. I changed shorts and put on cleats as quickly as I could and ran towards the fields.

I could see they had already split up to their usual teams and were running drills. I spotted Scolari and he was with coach Coto and Neymar's dad. Good God.

"Coach I am so sorry..." I started saying.

"It's alright Liv, Neymar informed us." Scolari said.

I saw Neymar approaching us. "He did?" I asked.

"Yes, he told us about your accident. Did you see the doctor today?" Coach Coto asked.

"No, not yet."

"Go." Scolari said.

"Okay Sir." I said and turned around to walk back. Neymar caught up to me.

"Morning beautiful." He said, smiling.

"Why didn't you wake me?" I asked him angrily.

"Should I have? You can't practice." He said.

"Yeah but... I should be here."

"No you should rest. How are you feeling?"

"I'm fine." I told him. "About last night..."

"I have to go back." He said. "We'll talk later, okay?"

It's not one thing or the other

It's all things all at once

I continued towards the infirmary. The doctor was in his office. "Good morning Liv." He said.

"Morning doctor." I told him, sitting on the examination bed.

"How are you?" He asked me as he took the bandage off.
