Tea

Everything rushed it's way around my head as I walked across the grounds. Was I mad at Blaise for leaving the door open? Was I mad at Ginny for telling Mum? I was I mad at myself for even believing those things in the first place.

Mum tries her best, maybe she did want a girl but it doesn't mean she hates me for it, it doesn't mean she doesn't love me as much as the others. And I want her to know that.

I carried on walking as the thoughts rushed around my head still and found myself at Hagrid's. He'd know what to do. I knocked on the door and fang immediately began to bark.

"Oh shut up you dosey dog." Hagrid said making me smile.

"Why hello Ron." Hagrid said opening the door. "To what do I owe the pleasure?"

"I need some advice." I said and he welcomed me in.

"Always happy to help." He said gesturing for me to sit down. "Tea?"

"If you don't mind?"

"Of course not." He brushed it away, "Now what's your problem."

I explained it all to Hagrid, showed him my Mum's letter and told him what I'd wrote back but left the part out about my birthday. I still wasn't sure I wanted to tell him just yet.

"Ron you know your mother loves you right?"

"I know and that's why I feel bad! She tries so hard and I basically just told her that wasn't enough..."

"But then you told her she was perfect in that letter of yours, I wouldn't worry about it. She knows you care." I nodded.

"What brought this all on anyway? Everything about your birthday?"

"It's because it's today." I sighed.

"Well Happy Birthday Ron." He said and I smiled.

"Thank you for not making a big deal." I said and he chuckled.

"If someone doesn't want their birthday to be a big deal then don't make a big deal. But if I'd have known I would've got you something of course." He said looking around. "Is there anything here you'd like?"

"That's alright Hagrid." I said laughing. "The tea and the talk is perfect." I checked the time.

"Shoot it's nearly eight!" I said standing up. "I'm sorry Hagrid I have to go!"

"That's alright, next time you come bring that Blaise of yours I'd love to speak to him."

"I will! How about next weekend at some point?" I asked and he nodded.

"Of course."

"Thank you Hagrid." I said before running off back towards the castle.

"No problem. Happy birthday!" He called after me. I smiled running back into the halls of Hogwarts and towards our dorm. I didn't want anyone to know I'd left. I burst through the doors hoping no one was there. I wasn't that lucky.

"I won't say anything." Hermione said not looking up from her book. "Oh and your present it under my bed I assume you'll want it later?"

"Thank you Mione." I said and she smiled looking up finally.

"Oh and Ronald?" She said just before I was about to go into my room. I turned around.

"Happy Birthday." I smiled.

"Thank you." She nodded and turned back to her book and I disappeared back into the room. We hadn't spoke much recently mainly because I locked myself in my room for a month but we'd both been busy with Blaise and Pansy that we forgot about it each other. I made it a mental note to spend more time with her again.

I managed to slip back into bed without waking Blaise up. I closed my eyes and drifted off again into sleep.

When I woke up again later Blaise was gone. It was only 10am so I hadn't slept for that long, he must've just gone into the common room.

"Has anyone seen Blaise this morning?" I asked walking into the common room.

"Yeah I think he went to Hogsmeade with Draco." Lee said sitting in between Fred and George.

"Oh they went alone?" I asked.

"Ron stop that I know what you're thinking." Harry ridiculed. I sighed sitting down on the sofa putting my head in my hands.

"I'm going for a walk." I said standing up.

"Again?" Hermione asked.

"You've already been out today?" Pansy asked.

"Yeah I just went to see Hagrid." I shrugged. "No big deal."

"Ron you only go to see Hagrid when something is troubling you." Ginny said "it's your birthday Ron."

I sighed. "Mum sent me a letter this morning."

"She said she's sorry for not being a good enough Mum." I felt my eyes well up with tears just at the thought. "And it's not fair that's not what I meant, I never meant to make her feel like that! She was never meant to know that I felt that way." I looked up at Ginny.

"Why did you tell her Gin?"

"I was just trying to help, I thought if she knew it would help. I didn't mean to make things worse Ron I promise." I nodded.

"Pansy I really didn't mean to be rude yesterday I just-"

"It's fine, I get it. But I'm still throwing you a party." She winked and I chuckled.

"Maybe a party is what I need? Just you guys though."

"Of course."
