Steve and I sit watching the TV as Vera comes on to admit that it was her in the video. I agreed to let Natasha take care of it and she struck her own deal with Vera.

"Well there goes my month," I sigh as I turn it off.

"I don't think people expect you to talk about it," he points out and wraps his arm around my shoulder.

"Have you tried giving Peggy a new pair of shoes?" I change the subject, we had been brainstorming ways to get her back.

"Yes, that was your idea last week and you sent them to her without my permission," he scolds.

"I don't know what you're talking about," I say innocently as I slide down to lay my head on his lap. "We've tried flowers, hmm how about a purse?"

"She has too many of those,"

"A lady never has too many, okay how about you finally visit her and stop sending anonymous gifts?"

"You're sending her the anonymous gifts," he boops my nose.

"Good so we agree," I put my hand up for a high five, he intertwines his fingers into mine and holds on.

"Should I start sending Natasha anonymous notes? Or is it Sydney now?" He jokes. I throw his hand and it lands on my waist, where he kept it.

"Not you too," I whine, The front door opens and heels start clicking down to us.

"Awe Sydneys here to check on you," he whispers.

"Shut up," I whisper scream back, we start pulling and pushing each other back and forth from the teasing and stop as soon as the heels enter. Steve catches a glimpse of the figure first and stood up immediately pushing himself off me. Confused I sit up to look.

"Steve," She says as a greeting.

"Senator," he bows his head, "I'll be right outside if you need me," he excuses himself. She waits for him to leave before she sits down next to me.

"Go get ready, we're going out,"

"Out where?" I ask.

"Shopping," she simply states. I start laughing.

"I won't be a part of your political scheme, I know what you're planning. She announced it was her, I said we were friends and you want to show that we are," I cross my arms.

"No, I just want to dress you up," She wipes the lint off my pants. Reluctantly I get up.

"You're lucky I need to find a gift," I say as I walk away to get my shoes.

"Miss Phoenix, Lovely to have you back. Senator, how are you?" The sales associate at Dior says to us. He shows us the new clothes, I pull out a shirt with the word "loyal" in small red letters.

"Do you have this in Senator Romanoff's size?" I joke. She rolls her eyes and scoffs with a smile. The sales associate tries to hide his laughter by walking away.

"Very funny," She whispers from behind me while I keep going through the clothes. I jolt when I feel her hands wrap around me, she rests her chin on my shoulder. I ignore her while my hands go through the neatly hanged clothes. "You smell good," she whispers, goosebumps rise from my skin and I put my arms down to prevent her from seeing them.

She buys a pair of sling-back heels and a black silk scarf. I didn't find anything worth picking up.

"Burberry, I need a new coat," I say walking towards it as soon we left the store. She grabs my wrist and pulls me back.

"Please?" She says, I roll my eyes.

"Please," I say annoyed.

"Please mommy?" She adds.

"No," I try to walk away but she pulls me back again. She lifts her eyebrows.

"Please mommy," I say in monotone.

"Good girl," she lets go and I walk ahead of her.

I find the coat I was looking for and go on to look at the clothes.

"Try it on," Natasha says from behind me, in her hands, she holds a white silk dress with small golden star details.

"I'm trying it on cuz I like it not because you told me to," I snatch the dress out of her hands and make my way to the fitting room. I walk out to show her how it looks.

"Zip it up for me," I demand. I Fully expect her to make me say please, I want her to. Instead she does it with no remark.

"You look beautiful."

"I could wear it to the state dinner," I say admiring it a little bit longer in the mirror.

"Or to dinner tonight," She says looking at me through the mirror.

"I don't have a dinner tonight," I turn so she could unzip it.

"You do now," She unzips the dress, and pushes it off my shoulder. The white silk pooled at my ankles, exposing my half-naked body. Her hands lingered on my ribs.

"What do you want?" I turn to face her, "why are we doing this?" her smile told me she was hiding something.

"I want you to come to dinner with me, in that dress," her eyes drop down to the white fabric and run back up to meet mine. She pushes me back onto the velvet seat. "Or I can take you home and you can wear this," her fingers lightly pull the middle of the black GG tule bralette, which did nothing to cover me.

My eyes wander over her hands as she picks up the dress. "Get dressed, I'll go pay for this," She says as if she hadn't just offered to take me home.

"You're paying?" I ask pulling my clothes back on, she nods. "Good, I'm not done," I walk out and ask the sales associate to follow me.

"I want that this black puffer, these 2- no 3 shirts, these pants in cream, black and navy, ouuuh these boots would look nice with those, these socks, and that burgundy shoulder bag, this reversible scarf- oh but I do love both colors... fuck it give me both," I laugh, the man scrambles to keep up. "Who needs a gold-plated phone ring?" I lift up the round shiny item to show Natasha, she shrugs her shoulders with a smile as she lifts the glass of champagne to her mouth. "Me, I do. Awe how cute a little bear in a trench coat, I'll take that too."

"Are you sure you don't want the shirt off his back too, angel?" Natasha remarks, she sits with her legs crossed. She was more relaxed than I wanted her to be. The man begins to take off his shirt to my surprise.

"She's joking sir," I stop him, Natasha tries to hold in her laughter and I give her a disapproving glare. "I think that will be all," I smile at him.

"No wait, I'll take two of these," Natasha lifts up a skinny silk scarf. The man nods and calls someone over for help.

They placed the bags in front of us while we paid.

"Your total comes out to $15,456," The cashier says. Natasha doesn't even blink an eye at the total and hands over her card.

"I've never seen you wear a silk scarf," I say as I spot them in the bag.

"Just something I want to try out," she smirks. The workers follow us back to the car with the bags and help load them.

"We'll make our way there together tonight, be ready by 8," she says dropping me off at my door and turning away to leave. I watch her until the doors of the elevator close.

"I am Y/N Phoenix, my mother is the president, my great grandparents were politicians, my fathers on the Forbes list: why am I taking orders from her?" I direct the question to Steve.

"Mommy knows best," he spits out a laugh.

"You've been just plotting on that one, haven't you?" I say trying not to laugh myself.
