{beep...beep...beep}

Desmond opened his eyes to find himself on the lower bunk in a room which he did not recognize. He glanced over in the direction of the sudden beeping noise that had awoken him, finding a strange man in a Hazmat suit. Desmond thought he'd seen this man before, perhaps in a dream. It was all a blur, really. At this point, Desmond couldn't tell what was and was not reality, but he was pretty sure this was the latter. The man in the Hazmat suit quickly typed something into a computer, causing the beeps to cease and a clock on the wall above him to reset to 108 minutes. Desmond slowly sat up, allowing the room to stop spinning and his eyes to adjust. The man must have heard him stir, as he strode over to the bunk bed. "Are you him?" The man asked Desmond, followed by some riddle about snowmen or something, Desmond wasn't exactly sure what the lad was yammering about. Desmond then replied, "What are you talking about?" The man let out a disappointed sigh, as he was hoping that this dashing Scotsman who he had found washed up on the beach was his replacement. Little did he know, however, that the Island had sent him something even better: a friend.
