Kelvin traipsed through the jungle one particularly uneventful afternoon. It was so uneventful, in fact, that Kelvin simply had to get out of the station. Additionally, the smell of Desmond cooking penne pasta for the 108th time in the three months they had been living together was enough to make Kelvin sick to his stomach.
However, outside wasn't particularly interesting, either. Kelvin had already worked on The Elizabeth for a solid couple of hours before even that began to bore the man to tears. Then, Kelvin had an epiphany: He could search the jungle for a pet to bring into the station! Kelvin had always secretly wanted a pet, aside from Desmond, but was afraid that it might be too much of a distraction from the button-pushing grind. Ever since Radzinky's untimely death, Kelvin had been yearning for a furry friend with whom he could cuddle on lonely nights. He and Desmond weren't quite to that point yet, so Kelvin thought that a pet would be a much more viable option. And perhaps Desmond might enjoy a furry friend, too!
Kelvin crouched in the underbrush, mere yards away from a boar piglet. He counted down to himself from three and pounced at the unsuspecting piglet, scooping it up as it squealed. "Shh..." Kelvin soothed. Glancing down, Kelvin couldn't help but notice that this particularly baby boar was male. Good to know, he thought to himself as he made his way back to the station, boar in hand, all the while thinking of a name for his new friend.
