Tonight was a rare night in the Bailey-Warren household, it was date night, and Ben and Miranda were going out. It had been so long since both of their schedules worked together and they truly missed being able to spend time as a couple.
They made plans so that the kids would be taken care of and so that they could have the house to themselves. Initially, they were just supposed to spend the night inside, but Miranda had come across a couples-only R&B night at a nice club, so she decided to plan the night for a change. Ben had no idea where they were going; she just told him how to dress and what time to be ready.
They needed to be out of the house in 15 minutes to make it for reservation in time. Miranda stood in the mirror in the bedroom she shared with her husband, taking in her appearance. She had on a tight black body con dress that outlined all of her curves perfectly, her favorite necklace that Ben gave her one year for their anniversary, a red lip. She was planning to put on a pair of red plumps that she'd gotta just for Ben. She let out her pin curls while she was in the mirror and then went to sit down on the bed to put on her shoes.
Ben was finishing up in the bathroom. He was brushing his waves, and when he was finished, he dusted off his outfit. Checking himself out in the mirror, he thought he looked good. He had on a red dress shirt with the top buttons undone, a pair of black slacks, and his dress shoes. He slid on his favorite watch that Miranda had given him, and he was ready to go.
Ben came out of the bathroom just as Miranda stood up from the bed with her heels on. "Damn," Ben growled, causing Miranda to turn around and chuckle. "What?" she asked. "I have the most drop-dead gorgeous wife on the planet," he replied, walking over to her in front of the mirror. Miranda blushed in response. Ben took her hand and spun her around to get a good look at her.
"I don't even want to go out anymore. I'm just ready to peel you out of this dress." He told her as he kissed her neck. He knew what that did to her, and she knew what he was trying to do, so she slipped out of his embrace and turned to take in his outfit. Pulling on his shirt, she said, "You're looking mighty handsome yourself, but I made plans for us, and we both know how rare that is." She placed a small peck on his lips and told him it was time to go. Ben protested, going out every step to the car, pulling on her waist, whining, and pouting, hoping she'd break. But Miranda stayed strong.
"What are you doing?" Ben asked as Miranda was reaching for the driver's side door. "I'm driving. You don't know where we're going, so just enjoy the ride," she replied, winking. He gladly complied, opening the door for her and closing it once she was in. He ran over to the passenger side to get in, and they were on their way.
The drive to the club was about ten minutes, so Miranda decided to turn up the radio and enjoy good music to prepare for their night.
Turning up the radio, Jill Scott's Cross My Mind was playing.
I was just thinking about youWondering if you wear the same cologneSmelled goodOn youHad the next boyfriend of mine try the same kindBut it stunk on him though. You know what they say everything ain't for everybodyBut I tried anyway
Miranda hummed along, laughing to herself, thinking about when she brought her ex Eli one of her favorite colognes that Ben wore. Still, it didn't smell right on him. She still couldn't believe she'd done that, and she'd planned to take that secret to the gave.
I know if I pick up this phone, write this letter, send this two wayI know I'm gonna say some things, I know you gonna say some thingsThat we both don't mean to sayLike, how amazing, how amazingWhen you would spread my limbs cross continentsBump our bed way over mountainsKiss this and this and this and this
