The Christmas season is always a busy season in the Bailey-Warren household. With Ben and Miranda's anniversary, Christmas with the boys, and now the possibility of sweet little Pru, and of course the ongoing heart-wrenching custody battle.
This is exactly what Miranda wanted to avoid, having her heart twisted and torn going back and forth with Pru's grandparents. She's quickly grown to love the little girl as her own and it hurt to see her having to go through this.
The possibility of them not getting to raise Pru broke her heart every time she taught about it, but she knew that her husband, Ben, needed her to fight with him. Ben was still grieving Dean and was trying his best to hold on and fight to uphold his friend's wish.
Tonight Ben and Miranda were finishing up putting the Christmas decorations. It was time to hang the stockings. Everyone's stocking was hung except for the newest addition to their stocking collection, Pru's.
Ben and Miranda both looked at each other and let out a breath. Miranda's nerves were getting bad and all she wanted to do was cut. She picked up the newly made stocking and she and Ben walked to the fireplace together to hang it with the rest.
After they hung the stocking, they both took a step back and took in the sight. Ben held his wife close.
If only the custody battle would end in their favor their little family would be complete. Looking over all the stockings and ending on little Pru's it pinched at their hearts, they had only been able to see 3 times in the last few weeks.
Even though the MIllers were her blood, Dean's will explicitly stated that he wanted Pru with Ben and Miranda. With MIllers keeping her hostage, Ben and Miranda could easily report them but they didn't want to bring more flames to the already large fire. It was understandable Dean's parents were grieving but it didn't make what they were doing right.
Miranda couldn't take it anymore and she moved out of Ben's hold and left the living room. She was trying to keep herself from crying. It hurt too much and it wasn't fair.
She went to sit on their bed in their room. She put her head in her hands and just sat that. Ben soon followed behind her. Finding his wife in her current state he just sat next to her and pulled her into a bear hug and rubbed her back. They sat there in comfortable silence.
After a while, Ben got an idea. He pulled Miranda up and asked, "How about hot chocolate and a movie?" This was his attempt to take his wife's mind of everything and simply enjoy each other. MIranda shook her head in agreement. Ben went to make Hot chocolate, but he had something else up his sleeve. He knew their family was the key to making it through this difficult time for both of them.
While the hot chocolate was finishing Ben ran back up to their room and handed Miranda a gift bag. "Here I have an early Christmas gift for you." "Awe Ben," She said touching his face. She opened the bag and looked in it "Pajamas, Ben?" She asked and there Ben stood with a big cheesy grin on his face. "Yes! Now put them on and come downstairs when I call you!" He said leaving out of the room. She knew he was up to something, anytime he had that big stupid grin on his face. She shook her head and just complied.
"Miranda!" Ben called. "You can come down now!"
MIranda came down into the living room and gasped, "Oh Ben!"
Leave it to her husband, there he was standing with that big stupid grin on his face in pajamas that matched hers. He had the living room set up to watch a Christmas movie, complete with hot chocolate, popcorn, and candy. She glanced at the Tv and noticed he had the Star Wars Holiday Special, qued up and ready to play.
She just looked at her husband in awe. How did she ever get so lucky? "When did you? How did you?" She asked, still in marvel of her husband. "I have my ways," He said winking and walking over to her. She pushed herself up on her tippy toes to play a kiss on his lips.
They got down on the pillows and blankets he laid out on the floor and before he started the movie he looked over at his wife again with that big stupid grin on his face again. "What Ben"? MIranda asked, chuckling looking over at him.
"I have one more surprise for you" he said with a smirk, taking in the look of confusion on her face. He clapped his hands and looked over her head. Miranda's eyes followed his gaze.
Her mouth dropped open as Joey, Tuck, and Pru walked out of the kitchen together in the same matching pajamas. "Surprise!" they all said together. MIranda couldn't contain her tears. "My babies!" she cried placing her hands on her cheeks.
She could believe her eyes. "Benjamin Warren" she turned to her husband. "Miranda Bailey" he replied.
"How did you?" She said pointing over at their children. "I called the Millers and asked if we could watch Pru for a couple of hours and I had the boys come home for family time." "Benjamin!" she said grabbing his face to place kisses all over it.
"Uhm Eww" Tuck said covering Pru's eyes. "Yeah, we don't wanna see that" Joey added.
Miranda and Ben looked over at them and broke out in laugher. "Get over here" Miranda said to them in a soft and loving voice extending her arms out. As they came over they all gave her a hug. Tuck and Joey laid at the end of their little palet set up and Ben held Miranda as she held Pru and they started the movie.
Ben looked down at his family proud. Proud that they were all here together. This was the way things were supposed to be. He was there with the love of his life and their kids. He was beyond happy. He leaned down and kissed the top of Miranda's head.
Miranda sat there so content. She loved her husband so much, he was a piece of her heart. And all her babies were right there with them. This is what she wanted, she loved her family. RIght at this moment, she knew that all the fighting would be worth it. This is what they were fighting for their family. She looked down at Pru and sniggled her close and she giggled. "Randa" she cooed. Miranda's heart was full, she kissed Pru on her cheek and she giggled some more.
"Thank you, Ben," Miranda said full of love and content as she leaned down to rub the backs of her boys.
