"He did what!?!" Miranda yelled into her phone.
"I'm worried about him, so I just thought that you should know." Andy replied.
"I'm sorry Andy, I didn't mean to yell. Thank you for letting me know. I'll talk to him tonight." Miranda informed her as she hung up the phone.
She let out a loud breathe and wiped over her face. Her husband would surely be the death of her. He had such a superman complex. She knew it was fueled by the losses of his friends. She knew what it felt like to try to hold it all together only for it to boil over.
Even with all her knowledge of what it felt like to be in his shoes, she was livid. How dare he not think things through. She wouldn't be able to function if she had received a call that something had happened to him. They had this talk before and he had promised to always come back to her. Even though she knew it was something that he couldn't promise she took comfort in knowing that he would always fight his damnest to make it home to her.
Her mind flashed to Pruitt and then her anger level rose. She sent a text to his phone. 'You home tonight?' Simple enough so that he didn't know what she knew but just enough not to seem out of the ordinary.
As she sat down on her couch, she thought back over the situation. What was he doing? He was going to give the Millers exactly what they have been looking for, a reason why they shouldn't get Pru. And call Miranda selfish but she wanted this. She wanted to be able to be there for the little girl. To love her and give her all the support she needed.
She let out another breathe. She wished that she had somebody that she could talk to about this. She needed a non-bias input. She couldn't talk to Webber right now, they were frueding and she wouldn't be the one to break first, even though he is the one in the wrong.
She gave herself a few minutes to breathe, so much had happened today. Between Owen Hunt's accident, Hayes' decision to leave Grey Sloan, Smit's breakdown, the Webber method fail, and the icing on the cake the argument with Richard. It was all too much, but that seemed to be her life as chief.
Once she finally collected herself, she moved back over to her desk to finish up some paper work so that she could head home. She got a text from Ben while was finishing up her last few pieces of paperwork, 'Yes, I'm on my way home now' When she finished her work she packed up her things and sent him a text back telling him that she'd see him shortly.
On her way out, she stopped to check in on Owen Hunt. After she heard about his surgery and that everything went well she made her way home. She pulled up to the house and braced herself. She had to figure out what exactly she was going to say to her husband. He had gone cowboy today and the fact that she knew about it drove her insane.
Miranda took a deep breathe and made her way inside. She looked around the foyer and noticed that it was just her husband's shoes and coat. She thought back over and remembered that the boys had late practices today and would be staying at one of their teammates houses. Good she thought, that way which every way this conversation went they wouldn't be here to witness it.
As Miranda took of her jacket and put it on the coatrack, she heard Ben call out "Miranda is that you?"
"Yes hun, I just walked in." She replied.
Ben made his way to foyer to greet her. He pulled her in for a hug and placed a sweet kiss on her cheek. It seemed like he was hiding something, but she couldn't get a good look at his face.
"Hi my love." He said.
"Hey" She replied.
They both walked to their bedroom. "How was your day?" Ben asked.
