Miranda finally had a day off and decided to run to the mall to pick up a few things. It had been a long time since she had a day off, and there were a few things she needed to get. Walking through the mall, she stopped at the fragrance store; she needed to re-up on her signature scent.
On her way back to the women's section, she passed through the men's section, and a bottle caught her eye. She knew that bottle well. She'd seen it many days sitting in her ex's bathroom. She went over to get a sample smell, and it sent a spark down her spine that she hadn't felt in a long time. She started to get a little hot and blushed at the thought.
A sly smile grew across her face. Maybe she could buy it, just for the memory. She decided to go to the women's section to get fragrances because that was a ridiculous thought. She made her way to the back and asked for her signature and a few others. When she was checking out, she decided impulsively just to get the cologne.
"I can't believe I just did that," she thought as she was paying. "Do you want this one gift-wrapped, ma'am?" the salesperson asked? "Uhm, yes, please." She replied as another thought ran across her mind. She shouldn't. She couldn't. She was in a constant battle with her mind as she was on her way back home.
Back at her apartment, she noticed a car she knew well, damn it, she thought. She grabbed all her bags and braced herself as she knew her sex buddy was waiting for her inside. She made her way up the steps to find him standing at her door with a grin on his face. "I thought you would be home on your day off, not out shopping," he said, taking the bags out of her hands as she opened her front door.
"I needed a few things," Miranda replied, putting her keys down taking off her coat. He sat her bags down on the table in the living room. Miranda was praying that he didn't notice the gift bag in the mix of her bags. "What's this?" He asked, looking over at her, pointing to the gift bag. Damn it. "Oh, that! Just a little something I picked up." She said, walking in the kitchen, trying to hide her face.
"Is it for me?" He asked, noticing the bag said, "Parfumerie Nasreen Men's" Damn that store! "Uhm, yeah," she sheepishly replied, looking up at him from the living room. "You thought about me?" He asked, picking up the bag and walking over to her. "Ye--Yeah," she stuttered. He placed a kiss on her lips. "You're the best girlfriend ever," he said, opening the bag. Damn, now he's going to think she wanted to be in a relationship with him. She had already told him that she didn't want a relationship.
She was now regretting her decision to buy that damn cologne. He took out the cologne and smelled it. "This smells good, babe," he said, inhaling the scent. He ran it past her nose and noticed how her body reacted. A smirk appeared on his face. "You like this scent, huh?" he whispered in her ear. "Yes, Eli," She said, putting her face down in his chest. He kissed the top of her head and put some on.
"This turns me on, Miranda." He said once he was finished putting some on. "Oh, God," Miranda thought to herself as she knew what was about to happen. He started to kiss her neck. "mhm,' Miranda moaned in response. He took this as a sign to lead her to her bedroom.
He laid her back on her bed and began to kiss her all over, removing pieces of her clothing as he went. Miranda couldn't even wrap her mind around what was happening. She just tried to focus on the scent of the cologne. But as she struggled to do so, she noticed that it didn't have the same effect on her anymore. After inhaling a few more noticed that it didn't smell the same. She was so confused, but she was brought out her thoughts as he slowly slid into her. A moan escaped her mouth as she was brought back to the activities taking place.
Once they were down, Miranda laid in her bed thinking about what had just taken place and what she had done. He had no idea. He was just clueless in the matter. She felt so guilty that she had just had sex with a guy and her mind was on her ex. She hadn't seen him in so long, and smelling that cologne that she loved so much made all the memories of him flood back to her mind. She got hot all over again, thinking back over their relationship.
There was nothing wrong with their relationship; it was perfect. She was just broken after the shooting at the hospital, and she didn't want to drag him through that with her; he was just too perfect. She knew there wasn't anything left in their relationship but to get serious and have some serious conversations, but she wasn't ready. She never meant to get herself caught up with Eli. It was just supposed to be sex with him. She had told him repeatedly that she wasn't ready for a relationship and she didn't want one. He didn't listen.
Her mind went back to Ben. She wondered what he was doing. If he was seeing someone else too. Just the thought made her sad. She still loved him, and she just couldn't give him what he deserved at the time. Damn it, who was she? Here she is lying in her bed with a man, thinking about her ex. She waved off her thought and drifted off to sleep with the man lying next to her.
The following day she went into work still feeling guilty about her actions from the previous day. Damn, if Eli hadn't found her and he was wearing that damn cologne. It made her sick on him, but she couldn't tell him that. During her rounds that day, she realized that she had forgotten to tell him about the dinner party they were invited to that night at Teddy's. Today just wasn't her day.
To make things worst, she ended up running into Ben. Of all days, she thought! And of course, he was wearing that damn cologne! She quickly realized that it only smelled right on him. To make matters worst, he was in her surgery! And to add to injury, he knew about Eli! She knew what she had to do. She hated to do it, but she couldn't keep going on like this. It had to be done.
As they were on their way out of the hospital to the dinner party, she stopped. She couldn't take him to that party, knowing that she didn't want a relationship with him. And now Ben was back from God knows where. So she put on her big girl panties and told Eli that she could no longer do this.
While she was sitting on the bench outside of the hospital, reflecting on everything that had taken place in the last 24 hours, of course, no other than Benjamin Warren himself walked out of the hospital. "Dr. Bailey" She swallowed the lump in her throat and told him about her and Eli. She knew he'd find out sooner or later, and she didn't want him to think that she had done it because of him, even though she knew it was a lie.
She knew he didn't believe it, hell even she knew it wasn't true. He just kept walking, smirking as he walked away. Damn it! Why was this her life!
