Chapter 58

3rd Person's POV

"Y/N-san?" the two said in sync, both of them are now looking up at the newly arrived girl. Her tired looking eyes and messy figure was the first thing that they saw.

"How long have you been in there?" Chifuyu asked, standing up from the grassy ground where he and Takemichi sat.

"I just arrived, don't worry" she reassured, smiling lightly as she gazed at the tree near them.

"It's late now, why are you still outside?" her tone was not like her usual one. It was full of authority, like a mother scolding her children.

"We could ask the same thing to you, Y/N-san" Takemichi retorted, scratching his neck as he sighed.

"Takemichi, you can drop the honoraries you know? We are almost the same age" mumbling under her breath as the latter just nodded his head yes.

"Back to my question, why are you still outside?" she asked, turning her attention to the two.

"I'm just helping Chifuyu out" Takemichi answered, eyeing Chifuyu whose face was almost dropped by heavens and earth.

"Is something wrong?" the girl asked, looking over at Chifuyu who just shook his head.

"It's not a big deal. It's just my cat" he muttered, letting his eyes fall down on his feet.

"Dead?" she asked out of nowhere, not sensing the gloomy atmosphere that was surrounding Chifuyu.

"You can have mine. It seems like Uncle isn't fond of animals, so you can have him" she bluntly said, though it was against her will.

"Is that why you bought canned goods? It's for your cat?" Takemichi curiously looked over at the bag that she was holding before she nodded her head.

"Though that cat is easily offended, just let him eat as much as he wants. He's a glutton" she smiled, handing the bag over to Chifuyu as he accepted it wholeheartedly.

"Hearing those things just reminded me of Peke J, he was also a glutton. All he did was eat and sleep" he muttered, earning a chuckle from the two.

"Kuro was also like that, no wonder why his old owner didn't look for him" that made all of them burst into laughter.

"Are you sure about it?" Chifuyu asked, looking over at her as he had the best view of her face. In his eyes, she was glowing. He was staring at her as if she was a light in the end of a tunnel.

"Hey.." Takemichi snapped, clicking his fingers as Chifuyu came back to his senses.

"Huh?" he blinked a few times before looking at Takemichi.

"Y/N said it was fine for you to adopt her cat" Takemichi explained, giving Chifuyu a weird look.

"Besides, Kuro isn't mine anyway.." she muttered, sighing as she turned her back at them.

"Go fetch him in my house. Uncle must be having a headache now looking for food to feed him" she added as she started to walk as the two followed behind her, having their own conversation.

"Did you just daydream earlier?" Takemichi asked with a teasing tone.

"What do you mean by daydream? It's obviously night" he insisted as Takemichi just gave him that look.

"What? I don't like her or anything" he protested as Takemichi smiled gleefully.

"I didn't say anything about you liking her though?" he whispered as Chifuyu's face burned.

"Shut up" he exclaimed, hitting Takemichi on his face as the latter's cheeks also became red.

"Now we're even" Chifuyu then ran towards Y/N who was having her own world, not hearing the two's commotion.

"Chifuyu, you dumbass!!" he shouted, running towards him as he swung both of his arms to attack Chifuyu.

He dodged his heat, but to their surprise, it was Y/N who catched it before falling on the ground. It was a long silence before the girl turned around to look over at Takemichi.

"Chifuyu, Takemichi…. are you good at running?" she asked, dusting herself off before looking at the two of them.

"No…" Takemichi muttered, looking away.

"Yes, we aren't" Chifuyu added, gulping a lump on his throat before scratching his head.

"Well, you're lucky" she muttered, her lips having a crease on it as the two had a good feeling about it, returning the smile from the girl.

Her smiley expression slowly disappeared into a stoic one before looking at them straight in the eye.

"After this, you will be"
