Lou's POV:

We quickly walked over to the door on the left, and it opened as if we had the key.
"Oh, thanks nine ball" Debbie says, almost surprised.
"Yep" she replies. We walk in the door and instantly see a long hallway with black walls all around us. There was no light but one at the end of the hall, a light highlighting a marble table. We rushed to it and realized it was not a table. It is a machine filled with different buttons and tabs to put codes in.
"Nine ball," I call for her in a nervous voice.
"Yep I'm almost there" she says back into the ear piece. "Holy shit, I knew it was impossible for it to be this easy," Debbie nervously walks around the room.
"It is, I got this," Nine ball says confidently. "It is meant to trick you but in reality you only need one password to get through it."
"Wait really?" I was surprised. Around the small room there were hundreds of other boxes, all different sizes and shapes. This room was circular, all around the walls were boxes and in the center the marble centerpiece. This place is straight up from a movie, I can't wrap my mind around everything that is happening.
"What are all these boxes?" I ask Debbie.
"I have no clue, no one does. I believe they are just there to confuse people when they walk in." Debbie replies, touching the box next to her.  "There is only one that we are interested in, the one with the gold."
"And which one is that?" I ask pointing to the identical boxes.
"Once we plug in the code to the machine, the right box will come out to us." Nine ball says.
"We've got 7 more minutes," Debbie says with a quavering voice.
"One second," Nine ball struggles.

There was a click, all the boxes started turning. The whole room was moving in a circular motion as all the boxes started moving backward and forward. The floor shifted us out of place as the light flickered making my stomach flip itself upside down. "Debbie," I called out in a concerned voice as I tried to get a hold of her arm.
"I have no idea what is happening," she replies as she gets closer to me and holds onto my arm.
Right in front of us, a box came out. The sides were black, but it was outlined by gold lines all around it. We got closer to investigate it, and saw that the individual box had its own code.
"6025814" Nine ball says before we even ask.
Immediately, Debbie plugs in those numbers and the box starts opening.
My heart was going a million miles per hour. As soon as the box opened, there was a silk cover on top of everything. We nervously lifted the cover and saw the empty embedded box. Black velvet on the inside, and it was illuminated by its own lights. The box was depleted, the only thing in it was a small white letter.
I looked at Debbie, in hope that she knew what was happening.
She reached down to grab the letter, and saw three words written on it.

I was here
- D.O

"Debbie, what is it?" I ask in a hushed voice.
"What's happening?" Nine ball eagerly asks through the ear piece.
"Oh my gosh," Debbie says standing up, her face white as paper.
"Debbie," I ask a second time but in a concerned tone now.
"Danny took all the gold," She says looking into my eyes, her gaze filled up with tears fighting to get out.
"Didn't you say Danny wanted to do this, before he died?" I ask.
"Yes, but it turns out he actually did it. Which means-"
"He may still be alive," nine ball adds.
"That bastard," Debbie says while looking at the small letter.
"There's one minute left, get out of there!" nine ball interrupts Debbie.
We put the empty box right where it was in the first place, reset all the codes, and rushed back down the long hallway. When we got out the door, the security had not come back yet. We closed the door,  walked down to the agricultural section and stayed there for a while.
"Well that was not a success, but at least we didn't get caught." Debbie says, dropping to the floor and placing her arms on her knees. I could tell she felt downhearted.
"You didn't come here for the gold, did you?" I ask, trying to figure out what just happened. "You wanted to find out if danny was still alive"
"Lou, I came here for the gold, but finding out was an extra in the plan," she answers with her eyes set on the white tiles.
"Why didn't you tell me?" I ask, I was mad that she had kept this secret from me.
"Okay, I'm going to leave now" Nine ball awkwardly says before disconnecting.
"If I told you Lou, you wouldn't have come"
"I don't know what I would have done, but you can't run a job inside a job Debbie. I already told you a thousand times"
"Last time it worked, remember?"
"Yeah, and how is it working out now?"
"He has a stick up my butt" Debbie whispers.
"Yes, exactly!" I say, proving my point.
"Okay, but this time was different Lou."
"You always do this Debbie, you make it impossible for me to trust you," I say walking away.
