You stared at your face in the mirror, squinting and turning your head from side to side.
The Casino Royale's bathrooms were, unsurprisingly, extremely nice. This whole mission provided you with access to luxuries you weren't usually able to enjoy, things that only the upper echelon of the galaxy partook in.
Things like nice bathrooms, apparently. If the ground underneath your feet hadn't been so shaken by Kylo's sudden reappearance into your life, you would have taken the time to truly appreciate the tiny carved soaps and gold accented marble countertops.
But as it was, you were staring at your face. Just trying to see if there was some tell that you had just been made to orgasm twice in less than ten minutes. Were your eyes actually brighter, your hair messier, your lips swollen? Or was it just your mind painting your face that way, and no one else would be able to tell?
The woman next to you fussed with her hair, pursing her painted black lips at herself. You meet her eyes in the mirror, and she smiles.
"You either just won a lot of credits or met someone very special." She winks at you before snatching her bag off the counter. She rummages through it before pulling out a compact, holding it towards you. "It's translucent. Just so you don't look... so damp."
Inwardly you scowl at the confirmation that you did, indeed, look different. But you couldn't deny that you were sweaty, and you just didn't have it in you to cringe at the fact that she so bluntly pointed it out to you. Instead, you quietly thank her, taking the powder and slowly patting your forehead with it. She watches you and you can see her debating internally if she should further her conversation. She must decide against it, though, because she simply accepts the powder when you hand it back over with a smirk and knowing raise of her eyebrows. With one final muss of her hair, she sweeps out of the bathroom, the clicking of her heels echoing behind her.
You watch her leave in the mirror, both grateful for her kindness and unnerved by her perception. Shaking your head and doing your best to not overthink the encounter, you take one last look at yourself. Straightening the dress and rubbing at a non-existent blemish on your neck, you heave a sigh and follow in the woman's footsteps, entering back into the main casino.
The rest of the night was filled with much of what the first half was- sitting, pretending to drink, observing. If it weren't for your brief intermission in the alley, you probably would've been sitting in the same booth as before, nursing the same drink. But by the time you make it back there, your drink had disappeared (probably for the better) and the booth was taken by a very rowdy group of men. They try to beckon you closer but you just shake your head and turn away, seeking out a new spot to perch upon.
It's hidden, isolated from the rest of the casino but with a decent view of the entire floor. Admittedly, it's a much better vantage point than your last spot was. But all you have to do is find other vantage points and the entrances, exits, and possible hideaways in case something goes awry when you finally meet with your potential ally.
No new men come to proposition you. No new women approach to comment on your appearance.
You are alone. And yet you aren't, not really.
You try not to notice when Kylo Ren moves into your field of vision, nor when he leaves it. But it's like you're hyper aware of his every movement, when he is escorted into a back room, followed by some 'Troopers, when he finally leaves the casino after exiting the same back room. You know that he could very quickly shut down your mission, but he doesn't, instead carrying out whatever task he was given and leaving once it was presumably finished. You suppose you should be grateful that he isn't using his knowledge of your presence against you. You don't know if you would extend the same to him, had you been in his place.
