The contact was late, and it was starting to get on your nerves. You were already on edge, Kylo's words from the day before weighing heavily on your mind. The restless energy that came from anxious waiting didn't help, only serving to heighten your senses. Every sound, every shift in the air, left you more and more jittery.
You had found, following your extended stint with the First Order, that your patience had improved significantly. Turns out being locked in a room with only a datapad and only one man who bothered to talk with you was enough to make boredom virtually nonexistent when you got out.
But you weren't really bored right now, you were annoyed and angry.
You knew, should Kylo's warning be true (and it would be), that this man wasn't going to accept your offer. Which meant that you had just willingly walked into a death trap, and you hadn't done anything to warn your teammates about it. Because how could you? Half of them already didn't trust you, and even Bea would question where you got your information from. And no one would believe you if you made up some bullshit about a gut feeling.
No, knowing that this would fail only gave you incentive to solidify your escape plan for when it inevitably went awry.
Olix was keeping guard outside, hidden from sight but able to keep an eye on the only door in and out of the meeting place- a small back parlor in the casino you'd been casing since day one of the mission. Bea was waiting outside the casino complex, keeping watch for anyone entering or exiting the building- once you were done with "negotiations" she would head to the transport to make sure it was ready for your speedy escape. And Ada, being the second-in-command for the mission, was waiting with you in the parlor.
"You think he'll help?" Bea had asked the night before when you'd been getting everything together, trying to ignore the ache in your heart at being separated from Kylo again. But you were unable to keep your mind from wondering when you'd see him again, and no answer was satisfactory.
"Probably not." You shrugged, not bothering to look up from your rucksack. "Men like him don't like charity cases."
If there was one thing you appreciate about the position you were currently in, it was being able to wear your normal clothes again. Dressing nice was fine, but the comfortable linens and well-worn fabrics were what you were used to. Even when you'd been with the First Order you'd been kept in breathable, flexible clothes. You weren't used to wearing luxury. And little sensual comforts were so much better when your insides felt like they were full of womp rats gnawing at your guts.
Ada's comm crackled to life.
"Hey, someone's coming but-" Olix's voice was faintly coming through the comm, but was cut off just as the door slammed open. You couldn't tell if you had just blocked out his voice or if he had cut off his comm himself.
Three people entered the room, though you could only see the face of one of them. It was a face you had to place, because you knew him. It wasn't until he smiled at you that you recognized him.
The man who'd accosted you on your first night stood at the front of the trio, clearly as surprised to see you as you were to see him. Behind him were two Stormtroopers, which told you almost everything you needed to know about how this meeting would go.
"Soulmate girl!" The man smiled even wider, spreading his arms like he was genuinely glad to see you. But his cold eyes betrayed that he could care less about you. "What a pleasant surprise."
"Somehow I doubt that it's a surprise." Or that any of this will be pleasant. "If you've already pledged loyalty to the First Order, why bother coming to see us?" You asked, gesturing to the two 'Troopers.
