What was the hardest with your work was the fact that you'll be gone for weeks or even months. Scarlett would be alone with Rose at home looking by the window to see if you'll secretly come home. Getting scared to see two officers in front of her door every time someone knocks on it.

Scarlett and you met in 2008 when she did her first USO tour, She was 24 and you were 21. You enlisted in the army at a young age 18 to be exact, you just wanted to do something good with your life. It's not like someone would miss you at the time, parents never home, no siblings, no friends from school.

Now you have a family, a wife, and a daughter waiting for you to come home. You have your best friend Kayla, she started serving at the same time as you did. The both of you made your way through the grades together, in a world of men where everyone was telling you, you wouldn't last long.

Back to how you met, she was this shy actress not knowing what she was doing and you were the little cocky and flirty Sergeant in charge of her protection on the tour. Unfortunately for you she was dating a guy, well she was married to a dude, you didn't like him. He was treating her like shit.

After the tour you stayed in contact. You would go see her every time you would come home, she was the first person you wanted to see after seeing all these wars horror. Luckily for you, she divorces the guy two years after you met. You made your move, she said yes you started dating.

Then you got shot in mission two years into the relationship in 2013, she was there for you every step of your convalescence. You couldn't go on tour anymore since your shoulder have problems, they put you on bureaucracy duty.

You two took this time to get married and have Rose, Scarlett gave birth to her on August 30th, 2014 with Kayla and Hunter being her godparents. Even if you get higher in grades, Scarlett would still call you Sergeant because it was what she called you since the start. In 2015 you could go back on mission, Scarlett and you had a lot of fights about it.

She was scared you understood that but as a Captain, you needed to go fight with your unit. Scarlett finally accepts the fact that she married a soldier, she knew what she was getting into. She just got used to you coming home every day, and she also let you go because Kayla promised she would protect you at all cost.

Everything went well for the next 6 and a half years, Rose grow up you became a Major. You went on another tour, then Scarlett didn't have any news Christmas and New Year went by still nothing. Lizzie came to live with her since she didn't have news from Kayla either.

Oh yeah the two of them met are your wedding they're together since then, getting married after this tour. "Scarlett I don't like this, this isn't normal they should've called."

"I know but you have to stay calm, Rose she's already worried for her mom. If she sees that we are too then it'll get worse." Scarlett told Lizzie holding her hand, they were in the kitchen waiting to go pick Rose up from school.

"Did it already happen to you? Not having news for more than a couple of weeks?" She asked worriedly, Scarlett nod and turn her head to look outside of the window. "Oh my God it was when she got shot, wasn't it?"

"Yeah, but like I said we can't worry too much. They'll come home." Scarlett finally said tearing up, this was a bad memory.

"We will." Came a familiar voice from behind them, they quickly turn around Scarlett gasped with her hands on her mouth. Lizzie squeals and jumps in Kayla's arms while Scarlett and you have a more calm reunion.

She put your foreheads together nudging you with her nose then kiss you, you wipe her tears away when you broke the kiss. "I'm home, I'm home." you whispered hugging her tightly.

"We didn't have news I was so worried that something bad had happened to you." She mumbled kissing your forehead repeatedly while holding your face in her hands. "I'm sorry we got ambushed, we didn't have any way to contact you. I missed you so much."

The two of you pull apart still you put your arm around Scarlett to be close to her. Lizzie hug you next while Kayla hug Scarlett, it was so nice to be back home. You take your hat off and put it on the counter sighing. "Where's Rose? I want to see her." You asked to Scarlett.

You were still in your army uniform but you didn't care, all you care about was to have your daughter in your arms. "She's at school want to come pick her up with me?" Scarlett nuzzling onto your shoulder to take in your sent.

"Of course I do." You nod eagerly which makes her smile widely. "You should go home too, Kayla. I think someone is dying to have you alone." You joked looking at Lizzie wrapping her arms around your best friend.

"Whatever you say, Major, we'll see you soon anyway. I want to see my goddaughter." Kayla answered looking lovingly at Lizzie, they bide their goodbyes leaving. Then you and Scarlett start making your way to Rose's school.

"That was my last mission, I didn't tell you before I left because I didn't want to get your hopes up. But it's official from tomorrow I'm a veteran." You told her while you were walking she stop in her tracks making you frown. "This isn't funny Y/n, don't say this if it's not true." She shakes her head tearing up again.

"I'm not joking, I'm tired of war, I'm tired of not seeing Rose growing up, or not being here for you." You told her truthfully stroking her arms gently. "Now come on little Rose will be out soon I don't want to miss her."

You pull your wife behind you walking to the school, nearly a second after you arrived you can see kids flowing out the door. Soon enough you catch sight of a blonde head with her friend, she was talking until her friend nudge her. The brunette kid points their finger at you and Rose pauses in her tracks.

Rose drops her bag and bolts toward you, you bent down and open your arms for her. She jumps in your arms tightening her hold around your neck and wraps her legs around you. "Mommy I miss you."

"I did too angel. I'm home now forever." You said holding her as tight as she was holding you. You wrap an arm around Scarlett getting her in the hug, kissing their heads nonstop glad to finally have your family back. "I love you guys."
