Chapter 2: Colours

Grian didn't feel bloodthirsty, like he did in last life. It was more like having a minecraft hardcore save, but with at least 16 other people. He had no idea yet if anyone else had been pulled into the game.

Scott was confused. Why was there a purple light? That hadn't happened in last life. When the life selector happened, his heart on his shoulder flashed yellow, light green and dark green before settling on a colour. No purple at all.

'We should check the tab menu.' Grian said, holding his left arm up. On it was a communicator, something you could use to talk to others, see who was on, and even see deaths. Names were coloured on it to tell how many lives each person had left.

The first thing they noticed was the colours. Every single name on the tab menu was red.

'...Core life SMP then? For hardcore?' Grian suggested.

'Seems so... ah, there's new names!' Scott exclaimed.

'How many?'

'One... two... three new names.'

'Ah, that's the same increase as between third life and last life. Who are they?'

'One's called Fwhip, the second's called Doc, I think, and the last is called... False.'

'So we're playing minecraft hardcore with 18 other people...'

'There may be a twist though, who knows.'

'Whatever they're hoping to do, this'll be a short 'game' for them...'

Scott was confused. 'Them? Who are they?'

Grian realised he spoke too much. 'Oh! Ummm...'

Rustling.

Grian sighed with relief as Scott's attention switched to the sound of moving grass and foliage. Someone was near.

'Remember, whoever it is, they won't know last life!' Grian managed to whisper right before not one, but two figures came into view.

Both Scott and Grian's hearts sank.

One was the happy yet chaotic brunette which wore a dark blue hoodie and a genuine smile. The other was the sophisticated moustached man, with his dark suit and hair.

Two of their closest allies from last life were now in front of them.
