Wow! I didn't delete chapter 3 this time! My will to write has returned!
I also slyly put in references to both last life and Hermitcraft, because why not-
She spoke first. 'Oh! I didn't expect to find other people so soon!' She hastily pulled out her communicator, hoping to find the names of the two strangers in front of her. 'Aha! So you two are Smajor and Grian, right?'
The 'Aha!' caused Grian to smile a little, although only Scott noticed it.
'Yes, he's Grian, but I'm Scott. Close one, Pearl!' Scott replied almost too fast.
'Hey! How do you know my name already?'
Uh oh.
Scott quickly made up a lie. 'I had a glance for your name, and found it fast as it's a long one.'
Grian eyed him with surprise. He hadn't expected such a lie to flow perfectly from his blue ally. Pearl even bought it, too.
'Ahhh, that makes sense! And what about my ally here? Did you see his name?'
'Hmmm... no.' Scott was more cautious now. Grian knew how hard it was to talk so obliviously.
'His name is Mumbo Jumbo!' Pearl announced, in a mock-serious tone.
'You can just call me Mumbo...' Mumbo seemed a bit tired of Pearl. There was an obvious too-little-energy/too-much-energy dynamic going on between the two. 'Say, do you two know what's up with these heart things?' He pointed to his red heart, which shone brightly through the fabric on his chest. Pearl had hers on her right shoulder, while both Scott and Grian had theirs on their left shoulder. Grian suspected that they were either on a shoulder or chest depending on how trusting you were. The more trusting people had theirs on a shoulder, and the more closed-off people had theirs on their chest.
Scott spoke up after a short yet uneasy silence. 'You two know Minecraft hardcore?'
The two nodded. Who wouldn't know of the treacherous worlds that angels of death roamed in?
'Well, I think it may be similar to that. Where else have you seen an obvious red heart on someone? We may have only one life.'
Mumbo stepped back, in shock. Pearl simply nodded.
'I was thinking that...' she sounded a little sad. 'But what about the location of the hearts? That's strange.'
'I don't know. Maybe it's random or something? I have no clue how they're even there to begin with.' Grian was blatantly lying, yet the rest of them believed it.
...
The conversation was interrupted by the sound of thunder.
'Huh? But it's a clear day?' Mumbo asked, obviously confused.
Pop!
A message appeared on the communicator.
