I walked hand-in-hand with my little brother, Kaleb, as we made our way down the railroad tracks towards Atlanta. We hadn't eaten in days, or had anything to drink, and that's why we were headed that way. We heard Atlanta was the safest place before all the radios went out.

"I'm hungry," Kaleb whined like every twelve year old would when he wanted food.

"Me too," I said as we came over the hill.

I gasped when I saw a white van right in the middle of the tracks. Kaleb tugged on my arm with a hopeful smile. "Let's go check everything out then, maybe there is something in there."

I took the head start after dropping his hand. Once i got to the white van I popped open the door and as soon as I did I heard shouts.

"HEY! Get away from our van!"

I dropped the handle and held my hands up. "W-we were just looking for food," I studdered as Kaleb came around from the other side to get a look at the four different men.

The man dressed as the sheriff lowered his weapon and ordered his friends to do the same. "There's a little boy," I heard him whisper.

"We didn't know there was an owner."

"Should've thought before you touched someone's property," the one with the corssbow hsised.

"I don't think privacy or ownership happens during a time like this Daryl."

The Sheriff held out his hand. "I'm Rick Grimes, my friends here are Daryl, T-dog, and Glenn."

I shook his hand softly. "Aly, and this is my brother Kaleb," I introduced while pulling him close to me.

"Aly, how would you like to come back to camp with us?"

"What are you doin'? You don't know her?" Daryl asked.

"What harm can she do?"

"Weapons? She could kill us," Daryl hissed.

"We ain't got weapons."

"How have you surived?" Glenn asked.

"Shear luck I guess."

"So, about that spot at our camp," T-dog asked.

"I don't know, how can we trust you?"

" 'cause we ain't shot you yet."

"There are women, children around Kaleb's age, and a few other men around there."

"How can we turn that down?" I asked with a small smile.

"Come on, get in the back of the van so we can get ya'll back to the camp for introductions."

I looked at Kaleb who nodded slightly. "Alright," I said hesitently before moving towartds the back of the van. Daryl, I think, jumped in first and held out his hand to me.

"Thanks," I said as I took his hand and as he helped me up into the van. I helped Kaleb in and the two of us snuggled up against the wall.

"Where you two comin' from?" T-dog asked as the van started down the path.

"We were just coming back from our family trip from England. We were locked in the airport for hours without any information, the Walkers found their way in and the place was overrun," I started.

"Mom and dad were bit, we had to leave them there," Kaleb said.

"Yeah, but we managed to get out before we had to watch them turn," I whispered and looked out the front windshield.

"Must've been hard," Glenn said from the passengers seat.

"Not as hard as it should've been," I said without any compassion while my expressonless face kept staring out the window. TBC
