"Aly, Aly wake up."
I groaned as the shaking continued. "What?" I graoned.
"There are Walkers."
I jumped up at my little brothers voice. I looked aorund and we were sitll in the truck while our groiup was running into the building. I turned to my window after I heard a knock. "Come on!" Daryl yelled.
I jumped up and Kaleb dropped out of the drivers side door. I opened my door after grabbing my pack, then took off running. Just as Kaleb and I slipped into the building the door slammed shut behind us.
I looked around and noticed we were in, we were in the CDC. I felt my stomach knot lighten a bit at the thought of hope.
"Any of you infected?" the stranger asked.
"No, not that we know of," Rick said.
"We're gonna have to run a blood test."
"Blood test?" I asked.
"Just a little needle."
I was the last to go. When the needle was put up to my arm I flinched and it wasn't even into me yet. "Hold on a second," Daryl said as he made his way over to me. He snapped his hand into mine and I smiled at him lightly. "Just look at me," he whisepred and I did as he said.
For the first time I found myself examening his facial feautres. He was extremly attractive, everything about him was gorgious. His tan, dirty skin, his messy dark hair, his deep blue eyes. I snapped out of it when Jenner's voice rang out.
"All finished."
I looked down and saw that I was bandaged up. I smiled lightly as I hoped down. "Thanks for the distraction."
"Anytime."
"Alright guys, since all of your blood is clean how about we all hop into the elevator so I can show you your rooms."
When we entered the underground hallway, there were tons of doors up and down the hallway. "Grab a room, there is warm water. Showers are at the end of the hall but don't go to crazy."
I highered my bookbag onto my shooulders as I looked into a room. "Wanna share a room?"
I jumped at Daryl's voice. "Oh! You scared me," I said with a smile.
He smirked lightly. "So...about the rooming situation."
"Yeah, I'd love to, it would make me feel safer."
He walked into the room first and I followed him. He dropped his bags onto the ground before plopping onto the bed. "I forgot how good a bed feels."
I smiled and plopped next to him. "It feels fantastic," I whispered before closing my eyes lightly.
When I opened them, Daryl was leaning over me. I smilied lightly when he leaned down and brushed his lips onto mine. I ran my hands through his hair and slipped my tounge into his mouth. All was going well until the door opened. I popped up and Lori was stadning there.
"Oh, um.....I, Jenner said there was food prepaired."
I nodded. "Thanks for letting us know."
When she shut the door I bit my lip. "I bet everyone will know within twenty seconds."
He leaned back on the bed with his hands under his head. "It's too good to be true ya know, this place."
"It's the closest thing we have to hope."
"And what if he's not even a CDC worker?"
"He's still the closest thing to trust right now, we have never been so close to safety."
He sighed and rolled onto his side to face me. He was fixing to lean in and I giggled as my stomach rumbled loudly.
"Hungry?"
"Yeah, gave my last bit of food to Kaleb."
He stood and brought me to my feet. "Let's get you some food then."
My eyes almost popped out of my head when I saw the large feast set up. "This isn't everyday, just tonight since you all seem stariving," Jenner said.
I sat on the extra chair and shoved a hunk of mashed potatoes on my plate. I shoved them into my mouth and sighed in pleasure. I ahoved about three spoon-fulls in until I couldn't move my jaw. I swallowed quickly and shoved some more in. When I looked up everyone was staring at me.
I swallowed then wiped my mouth. "Sorry, I just haven't eaten in days," I commented before taking a biscut and biting into it roughly.
"You and Daryl?" Kaleb asked from the other end of the table which caused me to cough up my bisccut.
"What?" I asked him as the table went silent.
"Your with him now huh?"
I chewed my remaining food and set my fork down. "Well," I started.
"No, we're not," Daryl said sternly.
I nodded in agreement but felt something fringe inside my gut at how serious he sounded. "Oh, good," Kaleb said with relief.
I saw something flash in Daryl's eyes but it left as soon as it came.
When i walked into the room Daryl was gathering his things. "Where you going?" I asked.
"Gonna find my own room."
I touched his arm lightly but he jerked away. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing," he grunted.
"I don't understand what's going on."
"Nothing between us at least, we have nothing."
I crossed my arms. "Is this because of Kate?"
"Yes," he finally admitted.
"Fine, have her, I don't even care."
He angrily slammed the door as he walked out. I sank into the bed and for the first time in years, I cried. TBC
